As a person who has studied history, an autism registry is a five alarm fire.

quick question: why was noem carrying $3,000 in cash? was she just out selling drugs or something?

“One of the top MS-13 members”? This woman is an officer of the court and the Attorney General of the United States. She knows that she wields immense power and responsibility. Yet here she is on national TV, making baseless claims about a guy her boss wrongly sent to a gulag in El Salvador.

I’m sorry she lost her daughter—but Kilmar Garcia had nothing to do with it. She’s twisting two different stories. Mad her tax dollars sent Sen Van Hollen to El Salvador—but not mad they’re funding Kilmar’s indefinite imprisonment w/out due process? One more time: easier to be angry than informed.

Abrego Garcia's wife: "I will not stop fighting until I see my husband alive. Kilmar, if you can hear me, stay strong. God hasn't forgotten about you. Our children are asking when you will come home ... they miss their dad so much."

Warwick Davis’s wife Samantha died hours before hospital discharge, inquest finds

The president told a Central American dictator to build five more massive slave labor camps to hold US citizens.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

China to impose additional tariffs on US goods - as trade war ramps up

Deeply concerning: US citizen lawyer getting detained and his phone searched on reentering the U.S. at Customs. www.freep.com/story/news/l...

QUICK: If we are raising these tariffs, taking that money, and simply paying the money to people who are getting hurt, how does that benefit the economy, particularly if it leads to a economic downturn that costs jobs? NAVARRO: Because it brings home our domestic manufacturing Q: That takes years

I take almost no pleasure in being right

The VAT exemption is part of a set of proposed measures that would aim to reduce the cost of living for families, Socialist leader Pedro Nuno Santos said in Lisbon on Saturday

Eisen: Donald Trump has removed my security clearance three times. I don't know if it is a mental capacity thing and he just forgets that he did it, or if he takes it away and then when he loses again, he says, turn it back on so I can feel better about all of the losing.

WOW. Rep. @jayapal.house.gov says CBP's internal affairs department found that a Chinese woman who had overstayed a visa was arrested by Border Patrol and hung herself in a cell. She wasn't found for two hours—even though the records reported multiple welfare checks (suggesting records falsified?).

BREAKING NSA Director General Timothy Haugh, the chief of the U.S. government’s most powerful intelligence-gathering agency, has been fired. His deputy, Wendy Noble, has been fired as well. (Cipher Brief, Washington Post, Reuters all reporting)

Every day I wake up to the news

This quote says it all: "To some in the government, the firings have felt arbitrary. Most if not all of the officials who have been targeted by Ms. Loomer were put through a personnel vetting process run by the Trump administration." Ya think? www.nytimes.com/live/2025/04...

Emergency appeal launched for Myanmar as more than 2,800 killed in earthquake

As someone that was literally homeschooled in conservative economics. This isn't it. Not sure when the voters will get that.

Dark Pence is back.

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

‘Target suffers eighth week of foot-traffic losses since caving on DEI Costco, which resisted demands to end DEI, extends its streak of foot-traffic gains to 13.’

Remember that the president doesn't have any inherent constitutional authority over tariffs. They are set by law. Congress could pass a bill removing all presidential discretion over tariff rates. Even short of that, the next president could reduce tariffs on day 1.

'Disgraceful' amount of sewage still being dumped in English rivers, says environment secretary

One of the worst things to happen to TV news in my lifetime is the fixation on how politicians should deal with a crisis from a PR perspective rather than the scandal itself. This wasn't common years ago. They just discussed the substance of the news, not how politicians should spin things.

Teen Warned Not To Accept Group Chat Invites From National Security Advisors She Doesn’t Know

Writers at SNL super sad because this was going to be their skit. prospect.org/politics/202...

Hear her! And you will feel the pain. 😭

When this video was first texted to me, I assumed it was from Iran. The way she screams, she was wearing a hijab, and the way the law enforcement approached her—it looked no different from the way Islamic Republic authorities arrest women. It’s from Massachusetts, of course.

Notably missing: Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia. Kind of mindblowing to me given what the substance of this letter is: "government should not retaliate against law firms"
