There's some nuance in the presentation, with at least one sympathetic illithid and companions who are curious about their own ceremorphosis.

I'd say Innistrad

It's a great take on "edgy Zelda" !

I played the whole series during lockdown in 2020 and wow Blood Omen 2 was the roughest of the bunch by a long shot

Temple of Elemental Evil is like that-ish ! But it's D&D 3.5e 😅

I get what you're asking for but systems like that exist in part to alleviate the "computing" time of a ttrpg session. Computers don't need to be accommodated, it's just what they do. So I don't know if it would make sense to create crpgs with such rulesets.

Disco Elysium checks a lot of boxes here, although not all of them.

To be fair as a GM you can tone down the grimdark and offer not-so-deadly encounters. What you get is a super streamlined area, albeit a bit simplistic. But it might work for you in this particular case.

Death... Death from above... Probably with a sword so long it's a bit silly...

The Mcelroy Brothers started a comedy advice podcast un 2010 and started with their dad a ttrpg spinoff called The Adventure Zone. This show has many arcs with varying GMs and one of those arcs is played with Monster of the Week. Travis, the middle brother, is annoying.

Hey, I'm not super duper experienced but I did run a 1-20 D&D campaign and tinkered with ideas of boss design so I can take a look if you wish
