Looks like the hits don’t stop coming Lost my cat two weeks ago, got laid off today. I don't wanna quit blogging, but yeah, not in the mental state to talk about anime. So another break, wheeee!

it's american citizenship, Michael. what could it cost? $5 million?

I'm fine with no dating minigame, because I've always found it skeezy to have the 50+ year old Yakuza characters hit on women in their twenties. But why make me organize a dating game for my crew member instead?

I like how you can recruit a teen girl to the crew and her power is just GUN.

My nitpick about ship combat in Pirate Yakuza is the same as the one I had for Ys X: base speed is so painfully slow. Neither of these games are realistic. I'm shooting freakin' laser beams so gimme fast, arcadey movement and sea drifting. Like who cares if that's silly?

I like the idea of adding a battle mode to the kart minigame in Like a Dragon, but man, you die SO fast if you're caught in a bunch of crossfire. Also, they hyped up the 1v1 against Ran and she was super easy? I accidentally went into the race with the wrong kart too. Oh well, it's a mini game.

Atlus removes bond points from dialogue choices and people still try to optimize it. The mag you get from social links is a drop in the ocean that you need at endgame. I wish streamers would just be themselves.

Man, I gotta watch hours of boring workplace compliance shit every year. I got this substory on lock.

Amusing to see a Yakuza substory about younger generations demanding better work-life balance.

[ceo tossing and turning in bed] the air. the air they breathe should be a subscription service.

With Ryza basically saving the Atelier series according to Gust, I wonder if they'll ever consider an English dub again.

It would be interesting to see how much they tone down the insensitive stuff in a hypothetical P4 remake. It's my least favorite of the Hashino trilogy because I dislike Yosuke and Teddie. Yosuke especially. For all the bullying problems Japan has, there were just so many fat and gay jokes.

Watching P3R's cast beat the game was really fun even if everyone talking at once got a bit much. Would love to see more of that, because the behind the scene talk is always fascinating. I know Kasumi's VA beat P5 Royal, and Aerith's VA played the FF7 remakes.

*Louis, the mass murderer, finally dies at the end of Metaphor* Streamers: "Nooooooo I didn't want the hot guy to actually die!"

Man, I love running around in a Yakuza game. I've spent the past six or seven hours just saving animals, taking pictures, delivering food, making friends, doing substories, recruiting people to my pirate crew, etc.

Zenshu Ep. 7 & 8: Our heroine should get those heart palpitations checked out I was originally going to do one big post to recap my thoughts on the shows in the past week. I took a mental break to grieve my cat, but I still watched everything that came out. But as I was writing up my thoughts on…

Why did they have to make chatting with the cat so weird?

Jason goes sailing with his son while leaving Moana behind on her own. Yeah, I know she volunteered to stay behind but still seems sketchy. Then you get to Honolulu and learn that he has yet another daughter he hasn't talked to in years. Hate to say it, but the guy looks like a sexist deadbeat.

Blasting Baka Mitai while sailing for treasure is a combo I never knew I needed.

Don't just listen to players. If given the option, they'll optimize the game out of their games, and the story out of their stories. It's our job to filter information and data and feedback into good work, and while we'll sometimes miss it's better than blindly following surveys.

This makes me laugh every time. I will not explain myself!

Majima's shadow clones are a little too strong on boss battles.

Eggs are delicious, but not "visit three stores to find if they are in stock" delicious. I don't understand the desperation around them.

Two sixty hour games, and they still refuse to reveal anything about Mare and Grendel.

Rixia is just here dancing in the festival... because?

Finally reached the final dungeon of Daybreak II, so I can start Pirate Yakuza tomorrow. In a vacuum, Daybreak II is an okay JRPG. Judged as part of the long running Kiseki series, it's gotta be one of my least favorite entries. If not my least favorite.

Costco and Trader Joes are yin and yang. Together they form a harmonious balance. One sells big piles of normal food, the other sells small piles of weird food. These are the two food piles people need

Route E just keeps going and going.

Kasim: "Yeah I could've cleansed myself of the evil magic from the beginning, but that would've been way too reckless!" I hate these people so much.

Risette: "I had doubts from the beginning, but we still need to fight because this is the only way to prove that I can trust my friends!" I can't wait to beat Daybreak II so I can move onto Pirate Yakuza.

It's so dumb how the protagonist in the Online Shopper isekai is constantly being seduced by women. He has no control over himself! Once they turn on their feminine wiles, it's an instant loss for him!

And it's funny, because after three arcs of super bright, wholesome protagonists, they wanted someone who straddles the line between light and dark. Van is supposed to represent that ambivalence. But it doesn't really shake out that way in execution.

But mostly, it's not meaningful. Being betrayed by a friend is normally a stab in the heart, but Daybreak II somehow manages to completely blunt that emotional blow. It feels like they didn't want to come up with villains to fight, so we're inventing silly reasons to fight our own allies.

Another bad thing about all the bad ends in Daybreak II is just the pure character assassination. Our heroes are just stumbling into obvious traps left and right. I can no longer see Van, Renne, even Kincaid, etc as anything but incompetent, bumbling fools.
