Disability benefits have become a more important source of income for low-to-middle income households. Read 'Money money money' today to learn how income sources for poorer households have shifted over the last 30 years 👉 buff.ly/PDWShQa

Incredible chart

Yes precisely

Reading this detailed thread of what the report says and the today programme coverage of the same the report suggests very strongly the today programme editors had not read the report.

If Canada liberals and Isreal likud win elections this year it will make a mocky of 2024 most certain political predictions

One of the most frustrating aspects of this price cap rise is that UK gas prices are falling. @cornwallinsight.bsky.social predicts in 3 months 80% of this increase will be unwound.

This is good because if you want a stable prosperous world filled with countries well disposed towards the Uk history teachs us that nothing brings that like a British gunship. A well funded health clinic on the other hand...

The solar PV CfD capacity, plus AR4 wind (that didn't die or get reauctioned through AR6) is going to be the first big wave of renewables that are really going to show the 'cheap' narrative through very public data. As @tombent.bsky.social says below, PV is already turning up, wind will be 26/27.

German election results 🧵

Listening to tms team try to say the names correctly could take up half the match

I think the phrase we are looking for is ahhh. Three years out ww should not be so dependent on gas prices and speculators in those markets

The East-West Rail line from Oxford to Bletchley saw its first passenger train today, the ‘Verney Venturer’ charter hauled by two early-60s Class 33 locomotives. Regular services are expected to begin this summer but no date has yet been announced.

"if you manage solar energy production in a certain way, not only are you providing clean energy but benefiting biodiversity" An extremely useful study with very unsurprising findings. Solar farms can improve biodiversity (just don't build new ones on nature protected sites). Let's celebrate that.

Renters’ union Acorn has called for Oxford City Council to adopt a “zero tolerance approach to rogue landlords” in the run-up to tonight’s Budget meeting. It says over 60% of Oxford tenants are suffering unresolved repair issues, over 40% damp or mould, and over 20% a pest issue.

I have so many follow up questions. Well done asking Johns pr guys they been killing it in theb21st century covering the killing he did in the 11th

Excellent thread and over due announcement

A sentence that sums up the challenge of energy transition

How does inequality hold back climate action? And what can we do about it? I'm really looking forward to giving this lunchtime seminar at @lincoln.ox.ac.uk for @ox.ac.uk #GreenWeek All welcome! Hope to see you there. 📍 Wed 12 Feb, 1:30pm, Lower Lecture Room, Lincoln College tinyurl.com/y9yt9nah

I am absolutely furious and terrified at this. Third runway at Heathrow, freezing fuel duty and hiking the bus cap: this Labour government are almost literally pouring petrol on the climate crisis. Shame on them.

And there it is: China emissions down 0.3% in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to Carbon Monitor's estimate

Delighted to have been at this Jewish LGTQIA+, Senior, Global Majority Greens event this evening hearing Vera to share her parents extraordinary story of survival www.generation2generation.org.uk/holocaust-su...

Too many housing associations are unaccountable and actively have contempt for their residents (some exceptions). There seems broad consensus these measures would be a good idea, but for many providers it requires a cultural transformation, which probably requires changes in economic incentives.

Me: on how there has been way too much fuss around these gilt market moves. They bring the worst out in the government. Gilt moves are no verdict on current policy. Reacting violently bad vibes creates silly policy spasms. Grow a thicker hide. www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/comment/gilt...

It is absolutely insane thst this has taken so long. Murderous insanity. Hope one day all can long back on this time with incomprehension of how it was able to occur unable to fully understand the emotions that condemned so many to their graves pointlessly.

The Icc treatment of the Afghanistan womens team undoubtedly shameful. It is good to see at least one cricket board deserves credit. It seems only reasonable that the icc funding currently given to Afghanistan to run a womens team should go their womens team

A mother dared to get the council involved to complain about a leak the landlord been ignoring for 6 months. The landlord then evicted her. The council could stop this, so far has but refused to do so. Please support her and pressure the council to stop the eviction. acornuk.good.do/southeast/st...

This can not be a real figure 20bn was already extraordinary.

"relatively few business closures" - you wouldn't know it if you were getting you information from a certain "local" clickbaity newspaper, or spending too much time in a certain FB group... 🙄

Exciting things in prospect for this year
