Yes! Love Portal 2 and F:NV. Hopefully I'll discover Halo if/when that remaster collection reaches PS5. I'd add the Mass Effect Trilogy, Metroid Prime Trilogy (sort of counts?) and Spec Ops: The Line.

Cool, what are some of your favourite games from that gen?

Not much ATM, but I'm really looking forward to the last season of Andor and that Alien TV show.

... but it was up to me to choose to follow those people rather than (for example) Right Wing grifters or similar. I'd argue that one side gets promoted more than the other on the internet, though. 🤔

100% Especially as someone who's always lived in smaller towns, Left Wing YouTube and (several years ago) Twitter was indispensable in allowing me to actually learn more about diverse groups of people...

Ok, then.

This is the first time I've received this response on BlueSky. Should I be proud?

Yeah, but baked beans *with* toast along with fried sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and bacon are amazing.

I'm imagining either David Tennant, Adam Curtis or David Attenborough narrating this. They all work.

People have to git gud at passive entertainment, quite frankly.

Or at least taken a 5 year break or something.

Or looked up a 10,000 word wiki entry somewhere. I mean we all have smartphones now, it's not hard!

Do you mean specific feeds as opposed to the 'following' or 'discover' tabs. TBH, I admit I'm not 100% sure how to use feeds
comment in response to

I definitely get your point, but doesn't it get difficult to focus if you're following really large numbers of people.i wouldn't like to see someone's post, then not see another post of theirs for a long time.

As I've said many times, I haven't watched a single episode of Game of Thrones.

'Is 23 too old to go clubbing?'. That's one I always see. Depends which club, I guess.

Half the stuff I do for fun now, I only discovered in my late 20's. It'd be a shame to unceremoniously dump it all after a few years because some bore on the internet said so.

I wonder if they're the same people who on Reddit insist they lost contact with most of their friends once they married. It's very weird.
comment in response to

Yes! Exactly. I really need to stop multitasking like that. Although I enjoy walking while listening to podcasts, if someone asked me either about the walk or the podcasts, I honestly wouldn't remember a huge amount of them.
comment in response to
post
Oh, I'll check that out! I love podcasts etc. but after listening to them while walking a lot I began to feel like I was missing out on the experience, especially when walking through nature reserves and stuff. Also, not to be a downer, but I started thinking about safety too in certain areas.
comment in response to

Do you listen to podcasts, audiobooks, music etc. when you go on walks or not? I can never decide if it's a good opportunity to catch up on that stuff or if it takes away from the experience.

Does that mean I can call Birmingham 'East Appalachia'?

Or mass media blaming immigrants etc.

I might be misremembering, but didn't RE2make have a few winks and nods to RE1.5?

Oh, don't get me started on the Hobbit films...

...
comment in response to

For sure. It'd essentially be an anthology series with new characters etc. But I'd still prefer that over sort of stretching out the book beyond its end.
comment in response to
post
Didn't the author write sort of sequels set in different time periods? That'd have been more interesting, TBH.
comment in response to
post
That's called 'passive representation', right? When the fact someone's diversity is incidental?
comment in response to
post
Yeah! The series is called Alien Earth and will be on D+ or Hulu or something. Apparently the show runner is Noah Hawley who did the Fargo series? Good cast, too.
comment in response to

I keep seeing rumours about an Alien Isolation sequel and maybe another new Alien horror game. Also that TV series looks good!

... Does 'Europeans' include Brits at this point? 😳

It could easily be a Chris Morris skit from the late 90's.

Annoying in what way?
comment in response to

Absolutely, and if they have one 'condition' for acceptance, I guess it's likely they'd have others, too. So any trans friends of theirs would have to essentially 'step on eggshells' around them. That must be exhausting.
comment in response to
post
That reminds me of what people say about scientific studies. Good stuff to know.
comment in response to
post
When people do the 'deadname as punishment' thing, doesn't that essentially tell any trans friends of theirs that their acceptance of trans people is conditional?

I swear I've been seeing 'shoegaze' a lot more often. I thought it was just a type of music?!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what does the '~' in your name mean?

Hmm. Maybe I'll give it a go. Thanks for talking about it! 🙂

Yeah I'm wondering about giving up caffeinated drinks (and the biscuits that frequently accompany them) for a month to see what happens. I usually have 3-4 caffeinated drinks a day.
comment in response to

Yeah I know what you mean. I try to limit it to two a day. My worst thing is at home or work, I'll make a cup of tea just to force myself away from whatever screen I'm looking at.

Giving up caffeine just for January or permanently?
