I saw this story breaking about Mike Waltz and noticed something weird about his phone in that he isn’t actually using “signal” as in the secure messaging app but is using something MUCH worse that I haven’t seen reported on yet. Quick thread but it’s an Israeli intel guy behind it

Walz: If you say you love freedom but you don't believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love is not freedom, it is privilege.

So, uh, it certainly looks like DOJ intended to file a letter to Judge Liman in MTA v. Duffy, but….it accidentally filed a letter containing its legal advice to the Department of Transportation instead storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

😬

Alongside the recent book banning, this is another unsettling event at USNA. What are authorities afraid of in terms of who speaks there? Our young officers need to be educated, not indoctrinated. Pulling out of a philosophy lecture is sailing into danger. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/19/o...

There's a hearing in two hours on the CFPB purge. Here's the latest on how the agency can't possibly carry out its duties with 1,500 workers fired, including basic things that mortgage markets rely on for actually functioning. prospect.org/justice/cfpb...

SCOOP: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau terminated the positions of 1,400 of the agency's 1,700 employees; medical debt and student loans will now be deprioritized.

Amazing presentation by @ruthbenghiat.bsky.social It is really depressing to see that what is happening now in the US resembles the past and present of many dictatorships/autocracies/kleptocracies. youtu.be/vK6fALsenmw?...

Where does the “Abolish ICE” movement go to get its apology? open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...

This was not newsreel footage of two dictators meeting somewhere far away and long ago. This was yesterday. Here in Washington, D.C. In the Oval Office. A sickening spectacle. Today's Morning Shots from @billkristolbulwark.bsky.social and @eggerdc.bsky.social: www.thebulwark.com/p/two-dictat...

Sooner or later, we're ALL going to be Kilmar Abrego Garcia

We are way past impeachment time

this is Mohsen Mahdawi, the green card holder who was just arrested by ICE for rendition at his citizenship interview

Even assuming electoral victories in 2026 and 2028, if Democrats don't start taking away badges and putting people on trial the instant they take power back, we are going to be right back here on January 21, 2032. I don't know how many more chances they're going to get to not learn this lesson.

I cannot even tell you how much depends on people like Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, and Marco Rubio going to prison for the crimes they committed in public. If that doesn't happen, and it seems like a long shot, we can pack it up.

Any Democratic politician who doesn't understand Nayib Bukele's grave offense against the sovereignty of the American people and constitutional order and say as much publicly should have no future in elected office. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/bukel...

What we all just witnessed had all the earmarks of a criminal conspiracy to deprive Abrego-Garcia of his constitutional rights, as well as an impeachable offense. The fraud scheme was a phony agreement engineered by the US to have Bukele say he lacks power to return Abrego Garcia and he won't do it.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

NEW: @aclu.org obtained ICE's "Alien Enemies Act Validation Guide," confirming all it takes to be sent to rot in prison in El Salvador is being Venezuelan and 1) having a tattoo an ICE officer says is a "gang tattoo" and 2) displaying "logos," "symbols" or clothes an ICE officer says are gang signs.

I repeat. If you’re a police officer in America and you think you need to wear a mask to do your job, you shouldn’t be a police officer in America. This is happening. This is insane. This is wrong.

So we could lose $200B in tourism, $100B in immigrants paying taxes, $100B in weapons manufacturing, $500B in lost tax revenue from firing IRS employees… is it sinking in yet?

I can’t tell if this is accidental fascism (stupidity) or deliberate fascism. But the point of due process is figuring out—through trial, evidence, jury deliberations, etc—WHETHER YOU ACTUALLY BROKE THE LAW. Without due process, they’re just locking you up based on an accusation.

I can't emphasize enough how stupid and self-destructive this law is. Many of America's greatest scientific advances have come from scholars escaping repression from hostile countries. Our freedom is our competitive advantage. We are throwing that away. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

In 1862, a Union soldier found cigars wrapped in a piece of paper in a field of clover. The paper was a copy of Confederate Gen. Lee's invasion orders. The Southern sloppiness helped the Union stop Lee at Antietam. It's unknown who lost the orders in the field, or if he was related to Pete Hegseth.
