Are you a woman who changed your name when you got married?
Congress is considering a bill that could make it much harder for you to vote.
Call your rep—this is not a drill. https://indivisible.org/resource/call-now-tell-your-representative-vote-no-hr-22

Right?
Or do you get a pass on the law if you're a Republican?
#REPORTTRUMP
Reports of any form of misconduct, including suspected unlawful activity, should be made promptly and confidentially in writing to the Head of the IOM at the Court's official mailing address, or by email to [email protected].
Let the law suits begin.
Thank you for the heads up on this!

It's a shame he can't read... lol
What if you just married not updated your official documents?
Anyway, is changing you name still a legal requirement in parts of the US? Or was it till very recently? Namely in California as there seems to be a high percentage?
No matter where you are, should always use your name on official docs and they all match
To stop their chance to further gut women’s rights
The tyranny and corruption is beyond obvious and people need to take REAL action.
Hillary: degree in political science. Yale Law degree
Both women with experience up the wazoo, yet we elect a clown. SMDH
Thankfully my partner didn't change her name bc her father is her most beloved person in her life ...and I love that.
1. Married women who have changed their last names, many of whom don’t have birth certificates matching their legal name
2. Naturalized citizens who could face additional barriers and intimidation
3. Military, natives, ect..
been finger printed & cleared by Justice Department & FBI numerous times for professional licenses
They were considering a bill to exempt married women and I hope it dies in committee.
Now go wrap your lips around Trumps arsehole a little tighter would ya?
Lying to Congress wasn't a deal breaker either.
Great role model for young girls 😂😂
Also just because she is never my choice for a leader does not make the information she shared in her post less valuable.
Pointing out the hypocrisy. Yep.
Have fun letting people know they aren’t allowed to disagree with you on a social public platform.
Failing to see how this is an example of a strong woman🤷
The Jews lost their right to vote prior to WWII with new rules/law.
Otherwise I'd have my renewal done by now. Sigh
HELL NO !! WE WON'T GO BACK!!
Be voting for women candidates ONLY. I am sick of these stupid men we keep electing and who are obsessed with making life harder for women. Why?
My last divorce was 36 years ago, 3000 miles away.
Under SAVE, I can never move again.
Under SAVE, It's only one small step to my not being able to vote in my home town.
However, I really think people should be legally allowed to change their names! Marriage or not.
Did I forget something?
Magas were too stupid to realize Trumps greed for money & power will have a direct threat to their own households & businesses.
I don’t know if having a name change document would be sufficient to vote?
Cheaper than a passport I expect.
Unfortunately, there's Ballard's Farm gal and others professing their own ideal of the dystopian family unit.
Any party that thinks tariffs are "masculine" has the smallest of small 🍆, zeta male energy.
Second was DEI. No job.
This is the third step… No vote.
Can’t have these women out there voting all Willy nilly. 😕😤
This is not a drill!
Go away!

All that’s left is white MEN.
(Ya hear that Mom? I was right!)
#NQNQ247
Remember history. Black Americans had to pass a test to vote and got harder tests than white counterparts. They sometimes would technically pass the test and still be failed somehow.

I definitely know it’s not an option for a lot of women, but I’m getting that info so I can get a passport. As soon as I do that I plan on helping others.
Now, it goes to the Senate at some point.
If you have a Democrat Senator, call them write them let them know that your vote depends on them filibustering this.
They're not always reliable. 🫤@captmarkkelly.bsky.social

All those are supposed to match now.🙄

To obtain a birth certificate, you need to contact the vital records office of the state where you were born.
To get a copy of your divorce decree, you should contact the county clerk's office or "clerk of the court" in the county or city where your divorce was finalized.
While you're at this your birth certificate and divorce decrees (for every time your name changed) are what you'll need to get your official passport.
Start the process today to protect your voting rights.
You only have to get documentation to prove why your name changed.
Thank you so much for this information. It is very helpful for me. And I’m so glad I can pass this on to others!
Good luck and thank you and every other strong and brave woman who won't let Trump and his thugs take away their right to vote. We ladies have to stick together.
Back to maiden name: just the birth cert bc it matches
Not really sure if you'd need to prove that you're divorced because your name didn't change.
Who knows? We're in Crazyville now. They want to make it hard to vote.
Who’s available BTW. not as handsome as Clooney but he seems very cool.🤷🏻♀️
If it wasn't such an enormous pain to change it back, I'd change it back to my maiden name.
Well, good job. You all get what you deserve and so do I, apparently.

Miss President
Ppl should judge others less for doing it, and rail on a government using it as a cudgel.
@rightwingwatch.bsky.social
Birth Certificate still has "Baby Girl Lehman" I was licensed to drive with a long lost Registry of Birth, married name now Lund.
Both my daughters did that as well.
I'll bet that those in Congress wives did as well.
This is absolute voter suppression. No less than a misogynistic poll tax on voters if they have to spend ANYTHING more than they normally spend to secure identification.
