Borrowed "Parable of the Sower" on Libby today. Got a few chapters in, realized it is absolutely fantastically written, and also that I do not have the spoons for a book this prescient and heavy right now. Back on my TBR, hopefully will have the bandwidth soon to truly appreciate this masterpiece

When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests. We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason. ALSO.

A reminder - don't use Amazon, but go to bookshops, which play a far more vital role in promoting literacy just by simply making books more visible, and allow you to find things by chance rather than by what the algorithm decides.

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.
