Atrocious decision!

For those of you who aren't familiar: one of the big tasks of this project is to track domestic terror groups, most of whom are Right-wing

That's the ceasefire up in smoke, along with pretty much any chance for peace in Gaza then. www.bbc.com/news/article...

The new GOV.UK login system is the first step in a radical transformation of the British state (FREE TO READ!) takes.jamesomalley.co.uk/p/login-to-a...

Trump: ‘This is how I’m systematically destroying the fundamental pillars on which this country was built, what are you gonna do about it?’ Dems: ‘We’re going to wear a splash of pink and hold up sone very small signs’

"Things are total chaos now." www.wired.com/story/rights...

The AUDACITY of AVANTI of all train firms sending this message, today of all days!

You probably read this weekend the government was watering down the workers rights bill. Having looked at the amendments, there’s no weakening of anything, in most cases it’s been toughened up. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Whether they're in our stations, at gyms or on our local streets ➡️ public-access defibrillators save lives! Thanks to the defib at Liverpool Street Station and the actions of bystander CPR + our clinicians, Paul recently survived a cardiac arrest. Link in bio for full story.

NHS costs are £181bn per year. This is 0.1% of that budget. Trans people are 0.5% of the population. NHS spends £14bn a year on diabetes, that's about 7% of the budget. That's roughly proportionate to the percentage of diagnosed diabetic people in the population. Trans treatments are underfunded.

Given she was only told 24 hours in advance that her budget was being slashed by 40% I'm not surprised.

Labour MP Sarah Champion, who chairs the International Development Select Committee, tells @cathynewman that she is "gutted" the aid budget has been cut to pay for increases in defence spending. Read and watch: www.channel4.com/news/cutting...

Elon Musk claims he mistakenly fired Ebola prevention workers, then quickly fixed the error. But Ebola programs are still in tatters, along with other livesaving efforts like AIDS treatments for children.

Rosie Duffield claiming she was "hounded out" of the Labour Party over single sex spaces which is funny because her resignation letter only mentions Starmer's inaction on poverty and antisemitism... but why let that get in the way of the martyrdom of Saint Rosie.

Sarah Champion, the Labour chair of the int’l dev committee, said: “Aid and defence are linked, but they build upon each other to keep everyone safe. Cutting one to fund the other will have dire consequences for us all as it will make the world less stable.” www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

People keep sharing this Sam Fender quote from the Sunday Times and while I think there is something in this – it feels bizarre that, in the midst of what is fundamentally a backlash against feminism + LGBT rights, everyone is so eager to dance around the obvious answer, which is primarily misogyny

Darren Grimes was born in 1993

A new Lucy Easthope book! Pre-ordered!

listening to brat after a few weeks away really is like a kick in the face isn't it. impeccable album x

I've had enough!

And that's number four by my count. The Overton Window has been moving for a while but we might be looking back on Musk's salute as another turning point. And when you refuse to call this out for what it is -- straight-up Nazism -- it helps it metastasize.

Folks, news for trans people has been awful for ages but we need to focus on the good where it happens. To that end, can you drop links below to positive trans stories you've seen recently? Let's gather those up for people!

Here's the executive order just signed by Trump. One of the defining features of fascism is that the discretionary power of the leader always prevails over the rule of law.

On Friday night, HHS ordered CDC to take down all flu vaccine campaign materials from its website. Materials are starting to come down. For example, a campaign explaining that flu shot can reduce flu severity from "wild to mild" is now offline. Left image is from Friday, right is now Meanwhile...

The enemy of the working class travels by private jet, not migrant dinghy.

This is as good a summary as any of Trump's approach to government: it's awful and I don't know anything about it

Screaming into the void 🙃

Literally had a teacher tell 6th form me in class that I 'should forget about all this gay nonsense and settle down with a nice girl.' This would have been back in 2012. Section 28 may have ended by then, but the teachers who were trained under it were still around.

Thank you Lady Gaga. Such an important message to kick off LGBT+ History Month. Your words will reach so many 💖 CC: Grammys

Exactly. And while I have reservations about Cameron’s reasons for same sex marriage - and full disclosure I am married - if we didn’t have it already we definitely wouldn’t be getting it from this Labour government

Really odd to see Substack celebrating Musk for "advancing freedom of speech on X." When we reported that X was secretly and systematically throttling traffic to Substack, the co-founders told us it was an "unreliable" platform with "hostile" policies www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...

Apparently Wes Streeting thinks the NHS is too focused on women and minorities which will come as a surprise to trans women, those who’ve experienced woeful maternity or menopause care (a fair few of my friends) and anyone aware of the fact that Black women are 3.7x more likely to die in childbirth

Correction in The Sun about the fearmongering story about all the illegals loose in London: "The '1 in 12' figure included some legal migrants, for instance those given indefinite leave to remain and some British-born children of migrants with irregular status". www.thesun.co.uk/clarificatio...

Unfathomably evil.

How long before other countries follow suit? We're already seeing likely next German Chancellor aligning with far-right AfD to deny people seeking asylum rights. We know anti-trans views are often used by same types of groups to create an "othering effect". It's demonisation of minorities all round

Build it and they will come!

ATLANTA (AP) — US public health officials have been told to stop working with the World Health Organization, effective immediately.

Today marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. Living in Amsterdam, I'm constantly surrounded by small, poignant reminders of the Holocaust—traces that weren’t so visible to me when I lived in the UK. 🧵

I know doomerism doesn't look good on anyone but it feels increasingly hard not to believe that Trump's second presidency will very fundamentally change the course of history, very much for the worse, there are so many ways in which things could soon go incredibly, world-alteringly wrong

It’s been over 2 years since we published our last episode of Bottoming (the LGBTQ mental health podcast), but I’m still really proud that we’re getting decent listens - with many from the US. bottomingpodcast.com

Thinking of the Southport families today. I can’t begin to imagine how they’re feeling at the moment.
