Try talking to designers who say we need a 25 character limit because otherwise their Figma mockup breaks.

Naomi, this is so on the money. I think in a patriarchal society the male role is inherently lonely - to 'lead'/'provide for' a family, team, organisation means competition with other leaders. It's very isolated, causes anguish to all and creates a very narrow space for connection.

If you really want to stop these dangerous illegal bikes then enforce the fact they're illegal, stop shops from selling them, stop importers from bringing them in. Get police to seize them, they aren't road legal in the UK.

I'm enjoying the series very much but am not clear on the railways part, since it is not part of any narrative to explore modern cultural links with Ancient events and history. I get that it implies eco travel for the series production, but nothing more - and is that really true?

BBC1 in the UK. It's 30 mins each evening - would love to see longer and greater depth programming on European history and culture but it's rare these days. Katya Adler made an interesting series on the Balkans recently that's worth watching

Would be happier if they ditched their opposition to net zero UNTIL 2050 and take a view then.

English phrase. You mint money, basically if some one is minted they have loads of the stuff!

I am not a woman. But I'm fairly certain the stigma around this topic results in many women choosing not to cycle at all. Would love to see that change.

Except all the energy needed to build those EVs. Fewer cars, not different cars please.
comment in response to post
Every car there is a proxy for how the driver wants to present themself to the world - the successful business person, the savvy buyer, the thrusting male(?), the practical family person, the 'sports enthusiast'. We need great industry marketing to do the same for bikes (with less thrusting!)

At some point I hope Americans stop paying their taxes !

One thing often missed in helmet discussions is that Dutch bikes are not focussed on speed, are very hard to fall off even at less than walking pace and almost impossible to go over the handlebars. In tandem with excellent infrastructure it creates an inherently safe cycling culture.

One problem with the idea of 'welfare savings' is that all that money gets spent in the local economy, supports jobs and thanks to VAT and other taxes a big chunk returns to the Treasury. These people are not trousering it into some offshore tax haven that benefits no-one.

HS2 was planned to get the fast traffic, which needs to be hugely spaced out, away from freight and local services. A massive upgrade to existing capacity. Crippled by poor management brought about by politics.

Good luck Carla, hope it goes well

Currently in the process of redesigning my Muddymoles site, would love to put a stamp of approval on it (was going to put my own on it anyway)

Thanks - love the background-image 'trick' and the lazysites info could be useful too

I was doing that under my own steam 45 years ago. Go to library ❤️, check out book a couple of reading years behind, then copy with a few tweaks. Easy!

Such a shame about Nukeproof and Vitus as well ☹️

Thanks, the author part is frustrating because they are just friends who have contributed reviews to our cycling community as a thank you. Most have met via the website. We are not looking to monetise anything and are not a commercial outfit

How about for any given need... a) should we be providing for this need? b) what is the best solution for this need? c) is the solution being delivered in the most efficient manner? One outcome could be growth but others other outcomes - social, moral, ethical, environmental are also valuable.

Thank you,.I appreciate the help

Looking forward to giving it a go. I have comfortable with front end but the migration faff and multiple author accounts is where I am less clear
comment in response to post
Ok, that's useful. Am I able to customise the comment front end code? My expertise is front end so I am happy to build templates etc. but it's the stuff like comments, supporting multiple author accounts that I'm less clear on. Guess I should set it up locally and play!

Thank you. Tbh, *everything* is freezing!

Awesome! Tough challenge, much harder than a single big ride. My best was about 4500, last year was 3650ish. Good luck!

Sounds good - I haven't used Orange Seal, moved back to Stans after horror experiences with Muc Off

All this and... it doesn't help differentiate your co. from any other. Who says 'I'm buying Apple cos they have the best AI?' Even if AI works, it will all basically be the same. So the co.s are burning a ton of money and resources for very little gain.

It's very dead pan English humour, listen carefully and you see it's a massive send up of annoying documentary presenters. It's brilliant and she stays in character all the time. In a northern English accent, the pronunciation of God entering Our Souls at Christmas is hilarious

Josh, thanks for this, A great read and very useful. I've had headaches/neck pain for years but recently found a physio that is working for me (after decades long searching). Related to what you say... I found a helpful element was talking to someone who really listened (not just sympathised)

Suspect the real problem is the phrase 'affordable'. Are we saying build unaffordable homes instead (seems like a crap business model). What we should be doing is build housing for rent at a rate that brings an alignment of demand and house prices over time.

I love this idea!

You're asking your predominantly cyclist followers for opinions on dress sense??! (Pulls up chair...) FWIW, looks great
comment in response to post
People tend to wear lycra in London because most of them commute in. That = distance + 'confrontational' roads in places. Cyclists are either bullied into trying to get some speed on, or only the enthusiastic sport riders brave the roads. It's changing with infra but you have to get to it first.
comment in response to post
The irony is most of those lycra clad riders she slags in Surrey UK will own AT LEAST one car and pay handsomely for it, as well as quite likely being Tory voters. So she's actually slagging her base.
comment in response to post
Trouble is we already pay up. Our income tax pays for the roads and the vehicle emissions tax does not go directly to the roads. It's garbage talk and indefensible ignorance.
