It’s a great spot! Glad to hear it’s still up and running post-pandemic.

Despite what I would consider a couple minor fumbles in the last moments, I give this game high praise and an unreserved recommendation. Go check it out!

Type Help does a great job of pacing your understanding of its mysteries, both in the interface and the story. It's full of moments of realization, some of them extremely satisfying (and some of them downright horrifying). It's browser-based, which is nice because you'll probably want to take notes.

Type Help is also "cache-like," (a term just for me and @anchovese.bsky.social) which means it divides up time and space into little narrative slices you can explore and follow characters through, like Sexy Brutale or Unheard or Sleep No More. It's fun to flit about listening in on conversations.

"Notebook mystery" is the term I like to use for the modern genre of games in the style of Obra Dinn and Golden Idol (also called true deduction or static deduction). The game presents clues which you put together to draw conclusions, which are then confirmed by the game as you go along.

Agreed! Great series, very clever. I’ve listened to them as audio books and the writing and performance is lyrical. Makes for just a fun experience.

I’d advise you to keep a few things in mind regardless of what system you use: 1. Just following a system beat for beat does not make your script automatically good. 2. Over-reliance on a system may make your story predictable. 3. Deviating from a system is OK if it makes your story better. 🧵4/x

Not sure if it’s considered uncouth that I had to look up both pizzly and kranch - words that were new to me. That aside, this puzzle really emphasizes the Connections tenet of not jumping at the first possibility you see. Plus, what a beautiful field of portmanteaus! Thanks for another good one.

4/ The hardest hit agencies are those that regulate industry, protect public health, and expand access to education. Meanwhile, conservative-leaning agencies remain largely untouched. If this were about efficiency, we’d expect an even spread. Instead, we see clear ideological bias.

Yeah, that wasn’t great.
