Working with survivors of intimate family violence poses unique challenges for clinicians & advocates. MSW students in Dr. Shari Bloomberg’s Social Work & Family Violence course gained visceral insights into survivors’ complex trauma & choices through the In Her Shoes/In Their Shoes simulation.

Contrary to conventional wisdom, HUD data indicate 1/3 of homeless Americans are adults & children in families. Last week, Prof Deborah Padgett presented her research on family homelessness at a Congressional Briefing on the effects of housing instability on family health, education & well-being.

13 MSW students returned from taking our J-Term course on child & adolescent trauma in Buenos Aires with an understanding of Argentina’s national, intergenerational trauma from the brutal military dictatorship (1976-83) & a strong foundation in trauma assessment, crisis intervention & treatment.
