I don't think we talk about this enough. When you join a healthy roleplay server of some open world game like Red Dead Online, people will stay in character but remain helpful. If they're teaching you to press your E keyboard key to interact with an object, they'll say, "you use your E muscle."

it's kinda silly how such a significant percentage of my friends are trans and yet like once a year i get surprised by learning someone i have known for A WHILE turns out had also transitioned

it basically costs $5 for me to send a piece of jewelry anywhere in the country and that is a fucking miracle

companies listening to what people say they want instead of making art and just giving them something has been ruinous for games, movies and more for the last 10-15 years

Oh this! The Democrats embracing genocide and not fighting it took away so many of the people who usually help on policy stuff. Like people are all up in arms about who everyone voted for but what really hurt them is the lack of organizers

They have the funding and capacity to investigate any crime to any degree... they just save the actual police work for people that speak out, rather than who break the law.

don’t meet your heros. i finally saw the critters from redwall irl and they don’t even talk. they’re just pissing and shitting everywhere.

The attacks on DEI are a pretext for a much more radical agenda of reversing the gains of the civil rights movement, an objective the Trump administration is pursuing with zeal. A Great Resegregation. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

I'm currently researching a new book that was just announced. Looking at waste and recycling along with materials and supply chains to visualize the life cycle of objects. send me your questions and favorite rabbit holes!

A core problem here is that like many things, the public discourse is totally playing on the right's terms. It's not "DEI" to research gender/racial inequality. DEI is a propaganda phrase to denote unnecessary excess in the mind of the public, like HR trainings. That's not what they're eliminating.

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes. You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment. My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc. www.reddit.com/r/Passports/...

This is what deregulation means…airlines destroying wheelchairs with impunity

Im tied to a chair in some damp basement somewhere in the american midwest. The cop slides another Meta Neuroreader headset on me. I immediately fry it by visualizing Karl Franz's warhammer wiki page in a weaponized shotgun blast of autism, wasting $12,000. This is the third time I've done this.

now more than ever I think it must be nice to be a stupid spoiled little dog of childless millennials

I understand why these stories exist but it’s important to be clear that he’s not “saving” 16 billion, he’s choosing, personally, without oversight, to wipe out 16 billion dollars of government services to veterans and the disabled and food safety etc etc

Extremely stylized drawing of Donkey Kong showing a little boy "wondrous places", from a promotional story book included with Nintendo's 1999 corporate annual report.

This is one of those stories which, in a normal world with many competent, independent media outlets, would be investigated and disseminated far and wide to the embarrassment of all offending parties involved.

I talked to developers about Microsoft's newly announced generative AI model, Muse, and its role in video games: "When we rely on this stuff we are implicitly empowering a class of people who own these tools and don’t give a fuck about how they reshape our lives." www.wired.com/story/xbox-m...

Your regular reminder that §230 protects YOU, the person reading this post, from being sued for reposting things just as much as it protects "Big Tech" from things that still wouldn't be a viable cause of action because your problem is not with §230, it's with the first amendment

If you're a solo journaling TTRPG creator and would be willing to donate a copy for a project in prisons, I'd love to hear from you! I'm working with Manchester-based participatory theatre company TiPP to explore the use of journaling games as reflective tools for incarcerated persons. Form here:

Fascinating profile of a park ranger in San Francisco who works with unhoused residents and has adopted the novel tactic of treating them like human beings, building relationships, and helping them access resources on their own timeline.

Ashitaka's story emphasizes the importance of having two girlfriends, one who is nice but evil and one who is mean but good, and you have to spend all of your time doing stuff for them

My takeaway from this is that people's politics are often incoherent and contradictory. It's why I find polling people about politics is generally not useful. This person is upset at Tr*ump but sees RFK as a "bright spot" and considered herself a Democrat. There are millions of ppl like this.

this is somehow actually what happened

if you follow me on the other app you know my mom was in jail from 2021-2024. she got out around thanksgiving and has been staying at a half way house trying to get back on her feet. I help support her and the rest of my family. this helps me. www.gofundme.com/f/help-jourd...

The Trump administration planned to shut down a government website that ships free coronavirus tests to households but reversed course after @lenasun.bsky.social and Carolyn Y. Johnson reported it was considering destroying or disposing tens of millions of kits www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

Me slamming the snooze button 8 times in a row

Not surprised that it's community colleges that are fighting back. Community colleges serve the greatest number of people facing systemic barriers. A large percentage of community college students are the first in their family to attend college.

if we had a normal national press the Canada shit would be the latest, most obvious point to be like "oh hey this guy is insane or senile or both. He is not engaging with reality and he shouldn't be in power" but instead we get like "Are Americans ready for that ski vacation???"

New study finds that the fast food industry steals an estimated $44 MILLION from LA area workers every year. Meanwhile, they lobby to ensure 50,000 fast food workers don't know our rights to stop it. news.northwestern.edu/stories/2025/02/wage-theft-rises-sharply-in-la-fast-food-restaurants

This is my “daughter of a Black Panther breakfast program volunteer” coming out but anyone who tells you that you have to be public about all your resistance activity should immediately be under suspicion for being an op, or being under the influence of an op

I have been trying to identify the administrator all weekend. I have asked the White House for a name and have received no answer. I keep hearing from USDSers that whenever they ask who the acting administrator is, they get no answer from their leaders.

1. Three sexual abuse nonprofits have removed all or nearly all references to trans, queer and non binary people (h/t @devtesla.bsky.social) I wrote a second article today to document and archive some of the impacted pages. www.madycast.com/p/capitulati...

and i love to hear it

i have been in Las Vegas for 3 days now and i have so many opinions

Such an elegant way to heavily imply a mountain of nudes
