Thank you! And regardless of what happens now Sen. Schumer must go from leadership ASAP. He is clearly not capable of the job.

If you truly think dem and rep platforms (actual real documents) are the same you can't be trusted with blunt tipped scissors
comment in response to post
You may feel this way but it's neither true nor productive. I am not happy with dem leadership at all but dem party is only possible vehicle in US right now. I'm not a big Biden fan but sure miss just being annoyed/unhappy/disappointed/angered. As opposed to chaos and ruin of now.

#1 is real if shutdown lasts. #2 is likely in the media but polling shows otherwise. #3 I think he's just wrong; admin really really wants this CR as legitimation and bully's victory. Bsky thinks he's wrong and getting rolled. (Some think it's sinister but that's less likely imo.)
comment in response to post
His theory is some combination of: Shutdown would eventually stop/slow court business It would be blamed on Democrats, reducing chances of winning big at midterms It would play into the general goal of the admin (more chaos).
comment in response to post
A CR with anti-impoundment provisions would be best (but it ain't happenin), a clean CR is better than a shutdown, and a shutdown is better than a bad deal -- and a shutdown is extremely bad

Good on you. Correct response to bullying!

Senator, this is much simpler: They want this bill. Therefore: Block this bill. Get out of leadership right now. You're worse than useless if this is what you really think. This is an enabling act. EVIL MUST BE RESISTED

My senators Padilla and Schiff are apparently ready to do the right thing (surprising but good!). I am calling them to tall them to bounce Schumer from leadership, though.
comment in response to post
Embarrassing. They are doing exactly this and your answer is to help. You are unequal to this moment. Resign from leadership immediately and go to the back benches where you can do some good. You failed to work with House dems and your own caucus even on a strategy to cave! What loser stench.
comment in response to post
Schumer is unequal to this moment. He should leave leadership immediately. When the criminal admin announces they're going to take what they want from even this terrible bill that gives them more power, DO NOT ENABLE THEM. Bullies are brittle. Schumer is not capable to lead. It's sad but true.
comment in response to post
Mr Senator you must give up leadership. Here is the rule of thumb: If the criminal administration wants it, it should be stopped. Your failure to understand this basic rule of bullies is embarrassing. They will treat your caving on CR as vindication and accelerate their illegal shutdowns.

Good video! Good explanation. No cloture on this bill! Any deal going forward must at least claim to stop the illegal actions of the Musk youth and the administration (impoundment etc.—already illegal but the legal system is not strong alone as we can see).
comment in response to post
1.) Don't just encourage blanket resistance and "you gotta fight rawrghghgh." That's not how democratic senators tend to work politically. Indicate you understand the complexities of keeping the government open and the CR, but say that not restraining Musk and Trump is a dealbreaker.
comment in response to post
That had better be true. 30-day clean CR is the obvious grownup move. No Enabling this illegal admin through an Act of congress.
comment in response to post
No on cloture is the absolute minimum unless there is a parliamentary maneuver in the works, Senator. And start staffing your phone lines for constituents!

FWIW I tried all the Schiff numbers and got exactly the same answer (machine) as DC. I suspect they might be forwarding to the one office. I reached a human at a Padilla office for the first time yesterday though.

Ps looks like ky at least is just a special elec. Which might potentially be delayed. (Recent change in the law.)
comment in response to post
And yes it's weird that house is much more likely/consequential but at the moment there's more leverage in the Senate because of rules.
comment in response to post
I don't disagree. But I think the first two are still important. And the third is "something unlikely happens". One something unlikely might be mcconnell unwilling or unable to keep overcoming full obstruction. What if he doesn't vacate the seat? Or does but beshear doesn't rush special elec?
comment in response to post
I think there are 3 components. Massive procedural resistance on nominees etc. would signal to dems and media the level of crisis. Would slightly slow progress of the admin. And there's the outside chance that the pressure could precipitate an unusual event (sudden retirement, that sort of thing).
comment in response to post
I am glad that you are upset. But you said on a letter to me you would stand up in any way possible. You should therefore be voting no on all cloture motions, withholding unanimous consent for all business, and making quorum calls. Even delay is effective. Evil must be resisted!
comment in response to post
Thank you for this, from a constituent! But you can and must do much more. No on all nominees. No on all cloture motions. No unanimous consent for any business. Quorum calls at every opportunity. This unlawful administration demands no less. Evil must be resisted!
comment in response to post
We, your constituents, are noticing that you and other Senate dems are getting rolled! You must understand that all nominees are there not to administer but to destroy. Therefore you must vote no on all noms, no on all cloture, and withhold unanimous consent on everything. EVIL MUST BE RESISTED
comment in response to post
Your constituents (me) want you to do something about the Musk coup. "Therefore I am voting no on all nominees, voting no on all cloture motions, withholding unanimous consent for all Senate business, and making quorum calls at every opportunity." EVIL MUST BE RESISTED

Missing followup. "And I am therefore voting no on all nominees, voting no on all cloture requests, withholding unanimous consent for all Senate business, and making a quorum call at every opportunity." EVIL MUST BE RESISTED
