Exactly this! The intersectionality of race along with disability, people that docs perceive as femme/AFAB, & other marginalised groups adds more risk of being ignored by medical professionals for each box you tick. It’s awful.

The times I’ve actually been taken seriously by a doc:
1: when I took in my yt, masc, slim-average partner with me. He didn’t even SAY anything, but his mere presence turned usual bitch doc into sweet-as-pie smarmy doc.
2: when I wore my NHS ID/lanyard as if I’d forgotten to remove it after work.

The reluctant surgical masker is just one type of patient who’s getting Covid due to lack of proper mitigations in healthcare.
There’s also the Covid aware patients who take all available precautions & get mistreated or infected by staff.
