A fantastic show flying under critics' radar? Alan Wake II but a TV show 🤣

For anyone wondering, here is the explanation: 🤑🤑🤑

This is just any open world game. Spiderman, Horizon, RDR2, etc. The point of them is that if you enjoy the gameplay loop, you can do it lots. If not, there's plenty of other games out there! Or, you can just cheat/mod on PC since it's single player, and do whatever you like :)

Critic reviews are almost meaningless most of the time so this isn't exactly a death knell but yeah it's not out to a good start. We'll see.

What's odd is that the playstation version was shoved out and also had a bunch of issues at launch, and this PC version is a Nixxes port which have generally been excellent. Wonder what's going on over at sony right now, none of this seems necessary at all
comment in response to post
HBO is shoveling out unnecessary remaster after remaster????? lmao
comment in response to post
Probably, as with all the rest of them, but at least most of the others are much less restrictive and some offer other benefits like cross save/progression. Would be nice to just make everything optional though, amazing it took sony so long to come to this very obvious solution lol

I haven't watched it yet but the clips from it all have been great, I will definitely get to it at some point!

God it was so bad, it's insane how they fundamentally misunderstood the entire show and just ruined it. However, the original is the GOAT but the New Zealand and Australian versions are both fantastic as well. Season 2 of NZ is one of my all time favourites. David Correos is just too funny!

Please just stop reporting on this garbage for a few extra clicks. We all know it's bullshit, we all know it's fake, and even if it weren't nobody gives a fuck anyways. We, especially the media, really need to just stop giving the freak the attention he desperately craves (and needs).

lol

Ultimately, it will be a much better experience than their previous console... and also the *only* way to enjoy their new games and old games in the best way. It's similar to the ps5 pro in that regard - what other choice is there? Refinement can also be good, IMO. Don't always need a big swing!
comment in response to post
Yeah I think especially for now, mostly keep status quo. It's just a switch but bigger and better in pretty much every way. The only downsides are AFAIK it isn't oled (ouch 😭), and the internal hardware will likely be underwhelming again, based on leaks (expected but not necessary, still bummer).
comment in response to post
What really should be happening is actually making these games affordable so people can go to them instead of them being prohibitively expensive (regardless of cap). Even without a cap, the owners are still raking in fuckloads of cash, obviously. Both ways are broken.
comment in response to post
Well no salary caps just funnels championships to the wealthiest teams so there isn't much reason to watch. Why would I tune into a minnesota wild game if the ny rangers can just have all top 10 of the best players and win for free lol. Different strokes, fair enough, but cap-less is pointless IMO

bsky.app/profile/manf... so in other words....... 🤣

It's pretty much as good as it gets, just take the splash, the water is warm 🤣 If you're used to console controllers at all, it is revolutionary how much better it is. Only real downside is the battery could have been better if that gave it the same size battery as the apex, but it's still great.

Not supported in many countries but also completely brain dead to force an arbitrary account for a single player game. But, it won't have DRM and as Tom said there will be mods to get around DRM, so for those who care, it's a fixable problem thatnks to PC. Otherwise, the ball is in Sony's court.
comment in response to post
You're asking the wrong people, Epic is the publisher. Steam version would be super sick obviously but Epic is directly incentivized to not ever put it on there, and it's hard to blame them even though it would be better for consumers.

The 5070, percentage wise, has HALF the cuda cores in relation to the flagship (3090, not 3090ti) that the 3070 did. They're cutting these cards down so incredibly heavily now, they just aren't the same. 192 bit bus, even. Should realistically be priced as a 60 series card, since that's what it is.
comment in response to post
I think the 5070 is an okay price given the times, it feels pretty clearly it was the expected $599 card they decided to cut slightly at the last minute to put AMD in a tougher spot. The main issue is it still only has 12gb of vram, and it's really not a 70 class card perf wise, only in name.
comment in response to post
The people talking about the 2500+ and 1500+ prices were just insane, I swear they were just nvidia data collectors fishing for information lol. There was no shot the 5080 was ever much past 999 if at all (4080 was DOA at $1200, essentially nobody bought it). 5090 is bad but nowhere near the dooming
comment in response to post
FYI to people reading, absolutely do not expect this. 4090 will absolutely smoke it unless you're cranking the shit out of DLSS4 to get maybe similar? results, but it will feel and look like ass in comparison. 12GB of ram will also absolutely cause issues if you're playing games as a 4090 would.
comment in response to post
As it turns out, it was *very* right 🤣 Yeah the 3080 was pretty pricey but for its time good value given its perf. The good old days of the 1080ti are long gone, I guess. At least the 5070 is (only?) $549. Probably would have been 300 dollars if we lived in a better timeline but it is what it is lol
comment in response to post
There was just no way they could increase it. The 4080 at $1200 was completely DOA and they released a faster card later for 200 less. Especially without a VRAM increase as you say, don't think they'd have much ground to stay on for it to be >1k IMO. Wouldn't have sold.
comment in response to post
I'm a little bummed at $2000 over $1800, but I was pretty bang on with the predictions. Everyone was absolutely freaking out over a $2500+ 5090 and a $1500+ 5080... just seemed insane lol. Not good pricing (5070 maybe OKish?)... but this is the day and age we're in unfortunately.
comment in response to post
i don't think price will really ever reliably leak, it gets decided by Jensen very shortly before the announcement. I would expect potentially somewhere in the $1800 range for the 5090 though. May go up to $1999, but let's hope it doesn't. Probably $999 for the 5080 with some BS same price marketing

Alan Wake 2, Price of Persia and Indiana Jones, a man of exquisite taste I see

PC version actually goes so fuckin hard tho lmao 🔥

I want a 32, I just want it to have the proper HDMI and DP ports to run it properly lol
comment in response to post
Yeah, Ubisoft has had this type of thing for ages and it's great. Playing AC or Avatar like that is so much fun and so immersive. I still can't believe how good Avatar looks, though being familiar with Snowdrop it truly doesn't surprise me haha.
comment in response to post
God I hope not, very much time to move on and shape up for a reset in a 3rd game, and hopefully execute everything well this time (being under sony does make me nervous for this tho lol). Right now I guess it's a low cost income source for them to keep going though. But it's past time IMO.
comment in response to post
Especially if it's done right and using the newest version, I think it's fine, but I think reworking their engine again or moving to a preferred in-house engine is better IMO, akin to ubisoft with Snowdrop. Elder Scrolls 7 on id Tech 7+ would absolutely rip 😆
comment in response to post
It is different, but it's also got some larger sections to it, and dense maps. Game style helps, but it is not immune to stutter at all, which is UE's biggest issue. It also unfortunately affects both 4 and 5 (was supposed to help), though 5.5 *allegedly* improves it (again) lol
comment in response to post
I also don't have a particular issue with UE5, it has a lot of great shit in it and it looks incredible when done right. But, it has to be done right otherwise you end up with sloppy and stuttery unoptimized games. But then you have a small studio come along with i.e. Lies of P and crush it, so... 😂
comment in response to post
Unless the loading screens (frequency not speed) are purely unfixable due to the engine, i don't really think it even needs change given starfield looks great and runs well, and modders can continue to do their thing with it. That said, for all MS studios, id Tech is right there... and exceptional.

Incredible work

I think a lot of people also weigh far too heavily into critics words and awards when the reality is none of that makes a game good or bad. That's up to you! Especially for TGA, which is a SUPER fun event, but incredibly unserious when it comes to both the voting and recognition of their awards.
comment in response to post
Doesn't mean it was the best game but it was probably the most dramatic and defining launch that came out in 2024. I also think a shitload of people are very much underselling what is a very solid game in an attempt to reverse? what they think is happening the other way. Either way, 2024 was great.
comment in response to post
I don't necessarily think AB was the best of the year overall, but it was very good, and I don't think Wukong was snubbed at all, but nothing surprising about it getting a nod. Realistically the "GOTY" *was* Wukong, regardless of award shows. It shattered charts and broke the world for a period.
comment in response to post
The dualsense is not the main draw of the game, it's the game itself, so leaving it as a choice is fine. I can tell you if I pick it up on PC I definitely won't be going back to a dualsense to play it lol, and it won't hamper my experience whatsoever. If anything, it'll be improved for me haha.
comment in response to post
If you're going to require a specific controller that shit is not going to fly on PC so I just wouldn't bother launching it lol. Astro Bot will come to PC, they want the $$$. I don't think dualsense is even in the calculation tbh. You can fully use it on PC unless sony themselves chooses to gimp it.
comment in response to post
I wouldn't have necessarily voted for it for GOTY regardless but I definitely don't think exclusives should be discluded, even if I don't think they should exist. Also, it will be on PC before too long, which opens it up to most of the population. Would be a banger Switch 2 launch title tho lol.
comment in response to post
I actually think this signals a Bloodborne remaster and PC port very clearly
comment in response to post
Deck runs a small 720p screen though, they can drop shit down a lot. I don't think it should be too much for them to hit 30fps, but it's definitely not going to be the best way to experience it. That said, neither is playstation as of jan 23 lol.
comment in response to post
Yep, definitely helps a lot there. Rebirth is probably a little sad about that one lol, but they're at least launching on PC now, and on Steam at launch, and with a substantial discount for buying it now. Hopefully the port is actually good this time 😆
