Reading the first Shannara book and enjoying it, but I assume all the books aren't borrowing large scale story bears from Tolkein? Not nearly as bad as the first Wheel of Time book though, and it's far better written.

Not for nothing but the trope of jury duty as a burden and a bummer punchline in cultural media is one of those things that we need to stop immediately because it makes a joke of civic engagement and has knock-on effects, eg citizens feeling like they don't have to be actively part of their society.

I would fork over a _very large_ amount of money to get to see this. In a theatre. With popcorn. I would pay a modestly large amount of money to just get to watch it on my TV at home. This is one of those pedantic things that makes me very angry and I could rant for awhile over.
