I loved Bruce's note to Fawn Hall: “I didn’t think much of Ollie North, so why should I want to meet his secretary?”

I always loved Bruce's note to Fawn Hall: “I didn’t think much of Ollie North, so why should I want to meet his secretary?”

This is why MMT was and is important. Not because Stephanie Kelton might say something weird about interest rates, but just to get away from the "Our country is going broke" BS that both MSM and most dems also say and might even believe.

As a public school teacher, thank you for this post. Also, I know that you address it, but just a reminder that class size matters (smaller is better, just in case).

But what about Right, Center Right, and Nazi?

But I think that Gen X grew up thinking about Vietnam, Watergate, etc. because the boomer messaging was so strong. No analogy today that I can see.

Sorry but I wish that the LA Times would have shown a little more anger in November when it mattered.

Had a talk with a psychology friend recently and she brought up "Attunement", or the desire to have others feel the same as you. These are miserable people, and they want others to be miserable to feel some connection.

I switched over to the LA Daily News, which seems good so far. I'll miss the top 100 restaurants though.

Krugman has been doing such great work since he left the NYT. Also, hats off to him for acknowledging that MMT people have done some fantastic work.

In CA we do Gov and Econ, but a big drag is that a lot of social studies teachers are right wing (the guys of course). They're there because they love talking about wars.

I agree it's a death cult. People seem to think that's too extreme but it seems accurate.

Kind of depressing but I think that great books are sui generis. You will never find anything really like LOTR, or Bleak House, or Pride and Predjudice. Love them and find others to love in different ways.

They really do. The newly built shopping center in the Palisades survived even though all the buildings around it burned down because of higher fire standards.

I'm glad that you liked that one as well. Happy to get more Japanese / French movie recommendations if you have them and happy New Years!

Yes - no one should be on social media too much - very bad for the soul. BTW speaking of films I took your advice and watched La Haine over the holidays. I liked it very much - thanks for the suggestion 🙂

My son, after taking AP US history, “Mom, we need another FDR. We need a liberal who’s not afraid to be a bully.”
