I found a geography textbook from 1890s Vermont in an antique store once. It sounded *exactly* like this, except about non-white races.
Just something to think about.

Decades of wheedling, sniveling sycophants and dismissing every real critic as “poisoned by jealousy” will do a number on anyone’s self-awareness.
It’s in the top five reasons to not have a monarchy. Humans cannot stay sane in those conditions.

That is so spot-on.
If it's patriarchal then it's "working class" and "traditional" even if it's neither.
If it's anti-patriarchal, even a little bit, it's "elite."
As if the authoritarians are original and everyone else is weird.
