one of my deep seated beliefs is that elephants are one of the other high level intelligences on this planet and that if there is a judgment day humanity will be held to account for our crimes against them https://www.theguardian.com/science/article/2024/jun/10/elephant-names-study-ai

On the other side of things, Laurence Anthony's grave is visited yearly by the elephant herds he befriended and protected.
But I would bet that elephants believe they’re in charge of Earth, as do the whales, and likely the squirrels in my backyard believe they are the true kings of earth. Perhaps they are!
We aren't alone on this planet. We're just jerks about it.
They genuinely think we're cute.
itll be like... an elephant, an octopus or dolphin, and a crow... representing the earth, seas, and skies
My dream is to go to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. They do such amazing rehab & rescue work.
OTOH it must be crazy frustrating for other intelligent species to be unable to create anything from their ideas nearly as complex as we do from ours
i hate us.
(Japan is complicated but it's widespread there and Faroe islands are a part of Kingdom of Denmark).
In Portugal I tried one last time to eat octopus and was ill all day. I knew better.
(Octopus/squid are smart enough, and can manipulate tools well, but they can't teach their children anything because they die first)
Azibo!!! It's dinner time!!!!
Elephants are a blip

Just insane that someone sees that and says “Okay but what if I murdered it instead?”

It must be due to bacon and creatures that want to steal your bacon.

Given human behaviour, there are days when it's hard not to hope for accountability - but I'd rather we can get some movement on such things now, for all creatures' sake 🙏
(Certain I’m not the first to suggest this)

Also some sharks and rays have massive brains, and go on similarly epic migration patterns to cetaceans.
Elephants: just chillin, having fun.
Dolphins: just chillin, having fun.
Humans: destroying our own living environment while poisoning our food sources and hoarding resources while children starve.
Elephants, Sperm Whales, Octopus, all Cephalopods, Dolphins, and horses, and cows with their calm, measured kindness . . . .

Just something to think about.
“We have power & they don’t” isn’t the flex you think it is. It doesn’t extinguish the rights or value of others. Just blinds you.
Many animals have high intelligence, we are just too stupid to see it.
But I'd argue, as a civilization, we are on the right road in terms of actually considering that animals aren't just animated meat.
Any and all animals, especially those with high intelligence, deserve their freedom and our respect.
Imma thinking Pachyderms would just pound us...
😜
We’d be so screwed.
I feel sick to my stomach every time I see images of them performing in captivity. It must be torture for them.

And I'm not even vegan; it's just objectively correct.
