A terrible bill for so many reasons.

I've heard there's a nice metro system in Montreal and a particularly well named station next at the Bell Centre...

Quick! Call another election!

Argh, your talk is the only point that day when I'm going to be busy. :-(

AND my nhl.tv subscription renews on the 19th, so I will probably miss game 7!

Scientific references, they often grab author names from other papers, "create" a DOI reference - that might exist but point to something else, or not exist at all - give the "paper" a title that looks helpful and believable, and claim is supports whatever fits the subject they are writing on.

LLMs are designed to "write plausible text". If they are asked to write a legal argument (or a medical / scientific paper), they will look at other examples of the same, see that they often cite references in some format and create text that looks like a valid reference - and they "cite" from it.
comment in response to

So, so many people are convinced that LLMs are "intelligent" when really all they do is produce text that looks like it could have been written by a person. "Correct" isn't actually a requirement to satisfy that.

I bet there are some that care about other people too.
They just couldn't bring themselves to vote for for Harris for totally valid reasons like sexism or racism, and who in their right minds would criticise them for that? /s

Labour is, at times, a progressive party. I'm just not convinced that those times include "under Starmer's leadership" or at least "since Starmer has been PM".

I'm pretty sure he was never a progressive.

No thanks.

There are some pretty serious process questions for Elections Canada to answer. The quantity and scale of some of the errors they are finding at validation is ridiculous!

"final this season" rather then "final ever", I hope?

What is this insanity? Why would anyone choose to replace MSL at this point?
comment in response to

Sadly most of them won't. And the ones the do will quickly find that they aren't WH reporters any more.

If you nominate someone you're only saying "I'm happy for this person to be on the ballot" and not in any way saying "I will vote for this person". I THINK you can nomination multiple people in Canada too, so it might have been the same group of electors nominating all of them. Not certain though.

I do worry how long Carney's government will last. Though the NDP and BQ are unlikely to be eager for another election soon.

Wikipedia suggests it was deemed to be unconstitutional in 2017, so no deposits since then.

I believe it's 100 nominating signatures, but no deposit.

They really lived up to the promise they showed aspects of in Games 1 and 2. Hopefully they can carry it forward, even if Montembeault ends up being out for a while. Not leaving it all until the 3rd period helps.
comment in response to
post
At least Montreal seem to be having a game of 3 3rd periods at last.
comment in response to

So the BQ are expecting to get hammered in Monday and this is a last desperate attempt to shake things up?
comment in response to
post
They've had two really good games, despite the final results - dangerous and looking like they could win. I think I'd like to see them give some of their benched players a shot - in the interest of giving them the benefit of playoff pressure experience.
comment in response to
post
I feel that anyone not going into the 3rd at least 3 ahead of the Habs needs to be pretty worried.
comment in response to

Frankly, I'd rather they were making a lose. No reason it can't go down more then 100% from it's peak.

The BBC has been terrified of anything that might mildly upset the right for many years, unfortunately.

I switched to TVA after the first period. I was surprised how much I could follow - I don't think I'm going back.

I think you might not need to watch the game on Wednesday.

I think it's easier from the other side.
CBJ must win 3.
If MTL gain 1 point, CBJ must win 3 in regulation.
Any other scenario and CBJ are out.
comment in response to

Going into the 3rd period not trailing feels like dangerous territory. Anything could happen!

It's pretty clear the rest of the world needs to de-leverage the US and ensure it never ends up this powerful ever again.

Even the ones that don't go in - they generate rebounds and they keep the opposition guessing more than the "I'm not shooting because it won't go in" flavour of Hutson.
comment in response to

I'm loving that he's shooting more (unless that's just my perception - not checked the stats).

My fantasy hockey call. Florida run hot and Ottawa run cold (don't look at the current game!). Montreal finish 7th and face Florida in the 1st round.

So like Trump and friends?
comment in response to

They seem to have one now... I'd prefer a symbolic and pretty powerless monarch to the all-powerful president.
comment in response to

Can I vote for Hutson?
comment in response to

Every day this goes on, the more the rest of the world will put in contingency plans, which will diminish the position the US can eventually return to. And certainly a lot of the damage is already done.
comment in response to
post
I think some of the damage can be mitigated if the US acts quickly AND puts in stronger safeguards to stop another Trump in future. Until that point, and I'm not sure the Republicans are there yet, I doubt many other counties are going to be willing to rely on the US to hold up agreements they make.
comment in response to
post
The issue is that there was an easy way for her party to kick her out if she didn't jump. That's... harder with US presidents. Maybe they will impeach... This scenario (though I never expected anything THIS extreme) is why I'm glad the UK and Canada have PMs and a symbolic head of state instead.

Looking at Huston in the other races too - T1 for assists by defensemen and T7 for assist for all. Just astounding!
