Sickened but not surprised that Reform has been caught peddling disinformation about the old Hogganfield Loch Care Home in a cynical attempt to whip up local fears. Glaswegians are wise to this gutter politics 👇🏻🗑🚮 www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politic...

Where better to start the expansion of community-owned assets than in the homes we live in? @paulsweeney.bsky.social makes the case for co-operation at Scottish Labour conference.

We were delighted to attend #ScotLab25 to talk about the steps needed to end new HIV transmission by 2030. It was great to be joined by @paulsweeney.bsky.social & our partners @thtorguk.bsky.social to discuss expanding HIV testing, improving access to PrEP & tackling HIV stigma.

Glasgow's oldest business is not only one of Scotland's most iconic brands, but it's one of our great export success stories 🍺 #ScotLab25

NHS waiting times have skyrocketed under the SNP, forcing people to seek private healthcare. Today, Scottish Labour conference in Glasgow will set out our ambitious plan to fix our NHS. Read my column in the Glasgow Times: www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/2494859...

Today @thtorguk.bsky.social and @waverleycare.bsky.social held a breakfast briefing at the Scottish Labour Party conference. Great opportunity to share what more needs to happen to ensure Scotland achieves zero new HIV transmission by 2030. Thanks @paulsweeney.bsky.social for your support🙏

Thank you @paulsweeney.bsky.social for visiting our stand at #ScotLab25 and talking about the challenges facing people with lung conditions

Thoughts from me ahead of a fringe event at Scottish Labour conference tomorrow on getting to zero new HIV cases by 2030 hosted by @thtorguk.bsky.social & Waverley Care and chaired by @paulsweeney.bsky.social 👇

The BBC Disclosure investigation into the mistreatment of children at the Skye House psychiatric unit at Stobhill Hospital has exposed a culture of cruelty. Many of the distressing events highlighted in the documentary must be directly investigated by the Health Secretary.

Excellent piece by @tomcalver.bsky.social debunking the myth that migrants who come on "dependant" visas don't work/contribute (1/2) www.thetimes.com/article/48e9...

Great to be back in Parkhouse with Martin Rhodes MP, Cllr Mooney and Cllr Adams speaking to residents about our Labour Unions plan to Make Work Pay 👇🏻 ✅ Raising wages across the economy ✅ Guaranteeing parental leave from day one ✅ Ending exploitative zero-hours contracts

An amazing find in a shipwreck in the Firth of Clyde! 😍 Bell's Pottery in Townhead, next to the Monkland Canal, was Scotland's foremost producer of porcelain ceramics. It operated from the 1840s until the 1910s. The site is now next to the Sighthill Bridge over the M8. www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/...

Honoured to be selected as the Labour & Co-operative Party candidate for the new Glasgow Easterhouse & Springburn constituency. Congratulations to Pauline McNeill MSP, who was selected as the candidate for Glasgow Baillieston & Shettleston. We will keep working hard for our city.

What are cities doing with the city-splitting highways that were all the rage between the 1950s and 1970s? A huge number are simply demolishing them - and predictions of traffic chaos aren't materialising: www.ft.com/content/5489...

In an exclusive interview, Paul Sweeney MSP, told us that the concentration of ship design expertise in Scotland is absolutely crucial to European and NATO defence capability. ukdefencejournal.org.uk/warning-that...

It is always a treat to visit J.J. Burnet's Clydeport Building. Built in 1886 and extended in 1908, it was originally the headquarters of the Clyde Navigation Trust, one of Glasgow's most important public bodies. I met with Peel Land & Property about their various development plans along the Clyde.

I support The List magazine's ambition to restore the Egyptian Halls. A CPO should progress quickly. For 4 years @scotcivictrust.bsky.social has been trying to save Greek Thomson's masterpiece. We commissioned Loader Monteith architects to develop a plan. www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/glasgow...

The measly donation to Glasgow City Council from the owners of the former McVitie’s biscuit factory in Tollcross will do very little to repair the industrial vandalism they caused by closing the iconic site after two centuries in our city. Read my latest @glasgowtimes.bsky.social column ⬇️

A huge thank you to @paulsweeney.bsky.social  for visiting our Glasgow Service this week! We’re excited that Paul is hosting a special event for our 50th anniversary at the Scottish Parliament in April. This will be a fantastic opportunity to highlight our work & impact over the past 5 decades.

Honoured to attend Change Mental Health’s 2025 Parliamentary Reception, sponsored by @paulsweeney.bsky.social A powerful evening highlighting why mental health must stay a priority in Scotland. Grateful for their work supporting 10,000+ people across the country. #MentalHealthMatters #Change

Coming today, @paulsweeney.bsky.social MSP discusses the future of Scotland’s shipbuilding, calling for longer-term planning, better procurement, and a unified strategy. He also highlights the potential impact of independence. Full interview in the UK Defence Journal shortly!

Great to see @paulsweeney.bsky.social highlighting Samaritans Scotland's incredible work on employment, financial instability & mental health in Scotland. This research helps us look at the links between job & financial insecurity & suicidal behaviour. Support is available 👉 buff.ly/3PKEe2B

Lovely to share a birthday celebration with Glasgow at the opening concert of Celtic Connections tonight, though the city is a good 814 years older than me! #Glasgow850

Yesterday morning, @paulsweeney.bsky.social joined us at Garrowhill to #SaveScotRailTicketOffices. It's one of the worst hit under proposals to reduce opening hrs at 101 ticket offices across Scotland, losing 91hrs p/week! 🤯 Join us for more actions this week! RSVP to [email protected]

"Glasgow, the 'Murder Capital of Europe' in 2006, reduced the numbers of murders in the city by 60 per cent within a decade by dealing with the problem not as we’d always done, but by trying something else" www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/2485...

Britain's first official Overdose Prevention Centre opened in Glasgow this morning. I am grateful to everyone who has worked for many years to realise this. 5 years ago, I volunteered with Peter Krykant to start the UK's first unofficial overdose prevention pilot.

Wishing all the service users and staff every success when the UK's first sanctioned safer drug consumption facility ('The Thistle') finally opens tomorrow in Glasgow. Privileged to be part of the team evaluating it.

More can and should be done to protect Paisley’s architectural heritage. Discussing the highly controversial demolition of the historic Territorial Army building with my colleague Paul Sweeney MSP earlier.

Is Manchester now schooling Glasgow in how to pull off an elegant modern tenement design? This Tim Groom Architects design for Cross Keys Street is really nicely done. How much more popular would new designs in Glasgow be if they were codified to maintain these high-quality principles?

As Glasgow celebrates its 850th anniversary this year, and more than a decade since the first Glasgow School of Art fire, we should mark the milestone by finally getting the restoration of Glasgow's greatest architectural achievement underway. Read my first @glasgowtimes.bsky.social column of 2025👇🏻

The French effort to restore Notre-Dame de Paris in 5 years was heroic. More than 7 years after the 2018 fire, Mackintosh's Glasgow School of Art remains a shell. Restoration is still a distant prospect. Today, I asked @angusrobertson.bsky.social to make its restoration a national project.

🤓

I am so utterly scunnered by Renfrewshire Council's capitulation to the cynical vandalism of the B-listed Paisley TA Centre by its owner. It's a criminal offence to deliberately damage a listed building, yet they are being rewarded for it. It's perverse. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2484638...

On Weds this week, the indefatigable @paulsweeney.bsky.social will yet again press the Scottish culture secretary about the rebuild of Glasgow School of Art's Mack building - below is my latest on the city's crumbling heritage & city council aspirations for 2025 www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...
