Seems legit.... We don't want to be a nation of underachieving Americans.

In future generations, when your children and grandchildren look back on this moment, they are not going to ask about the price of eggs. They are going to ask you what you did. Not what you felt. Not what you paid. But what you did. And I want to be able to say I did everything I possibly could.

💰PRO PUBLICA: “While Musk and his underlings demand budget cuts and layoffs across the federal government, funding for DOGE has soared to nearly $40 million…” www.propublica.org/article/doge...

I've noted some of the procedural things Democrats could be doing in Congress, but this point from @edgeofsports.bsky.social's great piece in the Nation deserves emphasis. This is basic politics, and it's baffling that every Democrat isn't doing it every day. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

“When Brian Gibbs woke up on Valentine's Day.. it was just another morning of getting to do what he loved at his dream job as an education park ranger at Effigy Mounds Natl Monument in Iowa. By that afternoon the father & husband said he was absolutely heartbroken” www.cbsnews.com/news/nationa...

An incredibly important exchange here for more reasons than one. It’s worth it to note: this DOJ lawyer, Jason Lynch, is tanking his credibility in defense of an insidious, pretextual, and asinine Trump Administration policy. This kind of stuff will forever haunt you professionally.

Still my all-time favorite @petebuttigieg.bsky.social moment and why we need him to do daily press briefings for Dems! "Pete Buttigieg busts Fox News over uninformed question on electric cars: 'Tesla doesn't even have tailpipes'" www.rawstory.com/pete-buttigi...

"Trump (with his inability to nominate anyone competent) owns this. Elon (with his insistence on gutting the government of talent) owns this. And all of those spineless Republicans Senators (who greenlit Sean Duffy for fear of asserting their autonomy as a co-equal branch of government) own this."

Just to be clear, because I don’t think the Post story highlights it enough: This was Trump’s day-one pick to lead the Social Security Admin until his nominee got confirmed who RESIGNED a career job rather than do what Musk’s DOGE team wants. This is Treasury (DOGE) and DOJ (Adams) all over again.

I am not making this up: Republicans have introduced legislation… to increase your bank fees.

Bernie Sanders: "The struggle against Trump, the struggle against oligarchy, which is led by Elon Musk ... that's not gonna be won here in Capitol Hill. It's gonna be won by millions of people all over this country standing up and saying, 'we fought and died for democracy.'"

Indiscriminate mass layoffs by Elon Musk are ravaging key programs, depriving our people of nuclear safety inspectors, air traffic controllers and food safety inspectors. These cuts crush democracy and devastate the livelihood of tens of thousands of public servants.

If you’ve been directly impacted by the Trump purge of government workers or his Executive Orders, please DM me. I’d like to highlight your story and also see if there are folks in your community that can provide help, if you’re in need. We’ve got to take care of each other.

NEW VIDEO: A new blockbuster lawsuit by Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro may be part of the key to unlock trillions of dollars of funds being unlawfully held by the Trump administration. Paige and I explain. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa6t...

Millions of dead people are not on social security. That is a lie. But they won’t stop telling it.

Elon Musk recently posted that another lawyer and I are “undermining civilization.” He asks if we suffered childhood trauma and suggests we are suffering from “generational trauma.” Tomorrow, Democracy Docket will publish my response. Sign up now to receive. www.democracydocket.com/me-subscribe...

A freeze on the hiring and onboarding of thousands of federal firefighters could have deadly consequences as the national wildfire response operates at a "diminished capacity," a federal firefighting captain told NBC News. www.nbcnews.com/weather/wild...

📌On August 18, 2020, the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee concluded that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump get elected. The committee chair? Marco Rubio. The very Rubio who was surrendering to Putin today. Just what in the hell is going on here????

My last post gave me this idea to create a new thread of organizations. Please post websites and or organization (pro democracy) that we can support/follow/donate to. (Don't spam this post, they will be deleted.) I'll start with my own PAC (shameless plug lol) democracydefenderspac.com

Once again @oliverdarcy.bsky.social covers the media like no one else. This time, he takes on the scandal surrounding The Washington Post's decisions regarding selling ads. Part of this tale involves a scurrilous ads it ran in October targeting me. www.status.news/p/washington...

I'd bet cash money that he cut a deal to get a private mail delivery contract, and to hand over his project to electrify the USPS truck fleet to Tesla in exchange for his resignation. Just a hunch.

A Missouri Representative has filed a bill to track pregnancies in the state. HB 807 will: "Maintain a central registry of each expectant mother who is at risk for seeking an abortion of her unborn child and make the same available to a prospective adoptive parent who has completed screenings."

Richest man in the world muses about Jailing reporters, nothing to see here

It’s nice that the Target founder’s heirs oppose canceling DEI & sidelining Black-owned products, but they don’t run the company—and Target has made its stance clear. @Target.com: There’s nothing you sell that I can’t find elsewhere. I don’t shop where I’m not welcome. You’ve already been replaced.

How much is Congress cutting from their $6.5 billion/year budget? Don’t you think congress can operate on say, maybe, $5 Billion? And each congressman has 18 staff, they could operate on say, 14? What about the White House?

The governor of Missouri eliminates diversity, equity, and inclusion in a ceremony with five white men and one white woman… I’m surprised they let her in.

Marco Rubio's collaboration with Russia's Sergei Lavrov and Putin is one of the most disgusting acts of betrayal to democracy and our nation. Rubio has secured his place in history of infamy.

Thoughts and prayers

@raskin.house.gov: "The whole anti-corruption crusade is an absolute fraud. They started by decimating the ranks of the inspectors general. These are the people whose job is actually, day in and day out, 365 days a year, to ferret out waste, fraud and abuse in the departments and the agencies."

Another way this feels similar to COVID — the disaster is already unfolding but the people in charge seem to think it’ll only impact “blue” areas.

Stephen Miller went on CNN and was so transparently full of shit that he ended up lashing out at the host

NEW: A D.C. federal judge temporarily blocks the Trump administration from firing Cathy Harris, chair of an agency that protects federal workers' rights. Harris will be reinstated while litigation continues.

He’s not making up: news.bloomberglaw.com/banking-law/... Is this really what y’all voted for? 🫤 💰

Jim Acosta: I think the AP should consider whether or not to sue the administration… and the rest of the press corps should start seriously considering whether it’s worth sending everyone into the Oval Office, onto Air Force One, or into the briefing room.
