Sharing some positive thoughts. šŸ«–

It's no coincidence that I call everyone I don't like a "Nazi." It turns out, Nazis are the only kind of people I dislike on general principle. The rest of you are only mildly annoying by comparison.

This hits hard.

C-PAC is a cult gathering, not a convention! This ā€œThird Term Projectā€ poster at CPAC is straight out of the authoritarian playbook. The same people who were screaming about ā€œthe deep stateā€ are now openly fantasizing about a dictator-for-life.

I'm sure somebody is working on this already.

Fun with PhotoBooth. ("Colour Pencil" quad-shot.)

Wordless Wednesday:

Iā€™m George Takei and I approve of this message.

Sometimes the stranger you meet is all persona: on-line, off-line, all the time. I'm Giles. But more than that, I'm Giles for you.

This spring, FANGORIA pays tribute to one of the most visionary filmmakers of all time - David Lynch. Though Lynchā€™s film work spanned (and defied) genres, his dark visions over the years ā€“ from ERASERHEAD to BLUE VELVET to LOST HIGHWAY and beyond ā€“ have left an indelible imprint on our readers.

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. Heā€™s got nothing else.

Apologies for posting so often but there's so much going on. The personal stories coming out are gut wrenching and deserve to be heard. Ranger Gibbs is one of them.

This country has seen some bad moments in the 61 years, 5 months, 16 days Iā€™ve been on this Earth. But it has never, ever before come close to the supertoxic level of stupidity, mendacity, narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that threaten to destroy it today.

The state of things

I fear theyā€™re coming for ALL school vaccine mandates next. Including measles, mumps and rubella.

Well, letā€™s at least enjoy one of my latest animation stills from the cool-ass, bonkers AF film Iā€™m making right now! #filmsky #artsky

If you see this, post a bridge.

Iā€™m having great difficulty right now seeing how our political system doesnā€™t devolve into violence.

Decades before DEI was part of the vernacular, Morrie Turnerā€™s ā€œWee Palsā€ā€”the first syndicated strip with a racially diverse castā€”first appeared 60 years ago, on February 15, 1965. Here's the debut, with a punchline that is, sadly, still relevant.

Podcast recording in twenty-five minutes. Photo-portrait altered: used "toy camera" mode for snapshot, and then jammed image through "vivid cool". I present: Cool Toy Giles.

"Hanzo is presented as the epitome of manly rectitude. Is he strong?... Is he honest?... And most important of all: Does he have an enormous penis? Iā€™m surprised you even feel the need to ask."--Shane Wilson (@shanewilson.bsky.social) on "Hanzo the Razor: The Sword of Justice" (1972)

"...alas, the whole thing feels as if director Adam Mason watched too many Guy Ritchie movies. He constantly sabotages the experience through snarky asides and observations, rendering his protagonist not only unsympathetic, but also irritating."--Giles Edwards (@gilesforyou.bsky.social)

It blows me away that the #Linux community's collective desktop culture sampled Enlightenment window manager, the Star Trek desktop, and Ubuntu's rotating 3D cube file manager, and STILL went "Nah, let's settle on the generic menu bar, start button, and some icons."

People just pick on #GenXers because there's fewer of us and we don't care. The only time a GenX brings up their generation is to avoid being labeled a Boomer or Millennial.

"Thereā€™s something about the clash of styles between Pirkleā€™s fire-and-brimstone anti-Communism and Ormondā€™s sleazy drive-in aesthetics that captures peopleā€™s attention (and derision). The Reader Queue sets its sights on feudal Japan, where a cop with some serious BDE is tackling crime one female informant at a time. The film is troublesome, but please enjoy this review that swings a big stick and includes one of the best puns Iā€™ve ever written.
