The PM’s statesmanlike handling of recent events is a credit to his leadership. Ukrainians have been fighting tooth and nail for three years now. The next step must be seizing frozen Russian assets to ensure that Putin pays for the damage he has caused. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Tories peers are trying - at all costs - to prevent the Labour government’s Bill removing remaining hereditary peers from the Lords I’m all for the upper chamber playing a constructive role but the kind of parliamentary antics here are shameful and designed not to improve the Bill, but to wreck it

Good morning! At long last, spring is in the air.

Proud to see our Prime Minister demonstrating the UK’s enduring support to President Zelensky & Ukraine. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the Ukrainian people, who continue to defend their country from Putin’s relentless war of aggression. Now is the time for Europe to step up.

Wishing our Muslim community a peaceful and blessed Ramadhan.

My column in the @boltonnews.bsky.social this week focuses on why we need to support Ukraine against Russia. www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/2496718...

In the interests of transparency, I am publishing my letter about Bolton's University to the Education Secretary regarding serious allegations in a series of reports by @manchestermill.bsky.social

PROMISE MADE, PROMISE KEPT At the election I promised tough action against those that pollute our waterways. This Labour Government has just passed a law banning bonuses for the water bosses who pollute our waters.

Last week I was in Ukraine. I spent a few days experiencing the daily reality faced by Ukrainians, like this brave soldier from an artillery brigade, living under constant threat of Russian air raids and drone attacks. They've been suffering for three years now. Some key takeaways below 👇

A must read if you want to understand the German election result 👇🏻 www.dw.com/en/german-el...

Final results: Merz can govern with just the SPD, which will make coalition building easier. But, and this is a big but: AfD and the Left have together won the seats needed for a “blocking minority” in Parliament. That will make things difficult, because ..

However the exit polls in tonight's German federal election translate into seats in the Bundestag, it's clear that the political system there is being pushed to the limit. These are unprecedented times for Germany.

Early estimates from German election officials suggest turnout is up this year compared with 2021. As of 2 p.m. local time, 52 percent of eligible voters had already turned out to vote. In 2021, that figure was 36.5 percent. Get more updates through the night on our live blog 👉 ow.ly/sTfX50V4VUg

As I say in the below article, if the US falters in Ukraine then the UK must be ready to step up. www.thesun.co.uk/news/3345975...

APPG member @philbrickellmp.bsky.social spoke to @jamesdhurley.bsky.social & @tomjss.bsky.social for @thetimes.com "The fact that ships sold by British companies sailed for Russia’s shadow fleet demonstrates that something is wrong with British regulation" Read here www.thetimes.com/business-mon...

President Trump’s statements about Ukraine over last few days increasingly detached from the truth. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has strong support from his country. Only Ukraine can decide its future. Putin is to blame for the war. Nobody else. Am pleased to see UK PM reiterate our support.

BREAKING: Keir Starmer has spoken to President Zelenskyy and backed him after Trump’s attacks. “The PM expressed his support for Zelenskyy as Ukraine’s democratically elected leader and said that it was perfectly reasonable to suspend elections during war time as the UK did during World War II."

Before Christmas I had a meeting with Blackrod Councillors, who raised concerns regarding detritus on the pavements of Station Road. Last month my Community Liaison Manager met with councillors and an officer from Bolton Council to see the problems first hand.

The reports by The Mill into Greater Manchester University are very concerning. I have previously written to the Vice Chancellor about the allegations and I am yet to receive a response. manchestermill.co.uk/university-o...

Social media is increasingly being used for scams. This is something that I am determined should be taken seriously by government and we should use our powers to crack down on. Last week I asked a question on this.

When I was your candidate I promised to fight for better access to the NHS. As the son of a paramedic I know how important our NHS is. I am delighted that as a government we have delivered 2 million extra appointments already.

In all my years kayaking, I’ve never seen anything like this. An incredible event 👇🏻

It falls to the UK to show leadership on the global stage and stand up for democracy and the rule of law. Our rules-based, multi-lateral system is coming under assault like never before. We can’t simply sit back and allow inflammatory comments such as those from Vance in Munich to go unchallenged.

Any push for peace without Ukrainians deciding their own future would be no peace at all. It would be a betrayal of the democratic rights of the Ukrainian people, who have sacrificed so much and continue to fight for their freedom in the face of Russia's unlawful and unwarranted war of aggression.

Shortly after being elected, I was invited to have a tour of the leisure centres in Horwich and Westhoughton. On Saturday, I was able to take up this offer.

As Secretary of the Germany All Party Parliamentary Group, my thoughts are with the people of Munich at this difficult time. Close cooperation with our neighbors and allies on security matters has never been so important.

Last Friday, I met with the headteacher of St Bede School and some of their Year 6. The morning began with a chat with the head followed by a tour of the perimeter of the school to show me the parking issues when children are dropped at 8.40.
