That’s how it is always made by my wife and her family.
I’d call it dressing rather than stuffing as it can be made on a stovetop/oven anytime. Much different than my family traditional style but still tasty 35+ years on.

Ahh… leftovers. For several years when I was much younger (about 50 years ago) we would small-game hunt on the day after Thanksgiving. Nothing ever tasted better than turkey sandwiches and hot chocolate from a thermos for lunch on those chilly days.
