Still waiting for all the 'Public Health officials failed the public with declarative statements and less nuance' folks to bring their moral hammers down on Bobby for peppering the public with cherry-picked bullshit misinformation.

This would also be true if it was a lab leak. Every public health person would be calling for regulations on labs. The truth is there WILL be a next time and we need to be focused on that.

The reality is that regardless of what you personally think, the evidence shows a natural origin, which indicates that the next one will most likely be a natural origin too. Our focus should be on preventing that and not on relitigation.

It allows them to completely eviscerate US agencies in charge of preparedness, because “really, it was all China’s fault.”

But it’s all just the same as 9/11 was an inside job. If any part of the pandemic was deliberate than it wasn’t a random occurrence due to irresponsibility and globalization, and the US government didn’t show the world truly how incompetent and ill prepared they are for future disasters.

Don't blur the line between self-deprecation and self-loathing. This is a mantra I need to tell myself.

It will be less a shock-wave that spreads from one epicenter, but a dozen of smaller shock-waves going off in regions with bad healthcare access. It will be like wildfires. I'm not saying this is what will happen. No one knows! I'm just saying that it's some people's job to freak out about this.

The high prevalence of bird flu in livestock make it so the disease at present is very wide spread across North America. If the mutation, which makes it transmissible between humans, occurs in one place than it is likely to occur in other places too.

Don’t say funding is competitive if it’s less than minimum wage everywhere you apply!

The “wind’s of change” argument seems too simplistic to me. There is something driving this change, and in the case of the US it may be misinformation. Like I understand inflation is just bad, but why does it compel people to vote for the fascist party that was responsible for it?

How about watching an old bbc show that’s super low budget but has a million episodes like Midsomer Murders?

This high school kid I was tutoring was doing a group project on obesity and I was calling the project out like Kramer dressed as Santa telling a kid about how capitalism is bullshit. I think I got through, but I only had an hour.

Yeah, I mean fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I’ll be honest. It’s easier for me to push doomerism with not as much at stake. It’s like asteroid 2016 bullshit. Having hope and the will to work is the much healthier approach for Americans.

As someone who grew up in Ontario with undiagnosed ADHD, it insane to me that anyone was too coddling of my needs. The first response from school and faculty was always to shame me to tears for not trying hard enough. This is the bare minimum accommodation.

It’s not that novel. It’s the villain’s plan in the Jean Claude Van Damme movie Knock Off. So b-tier Bond villain shit. m.imdb.com/title/tt0120...

This is all well and good, but when are we going to get to your Erdtree analysis? How do pronounce Scadu?

I thought the plan was dumber. Like, for those living off tips you now pocket more money, so we don’t have to bother raising minimum wage.
