I’m mostly a photographer but I dabble in mixed media, alternative photo techniques, and whatever side quest comes along. I also was a forensic chemist half a lifetime ago. Any photos I post (other than reposts) are my own and copyright Elizabeth King.

This looks like the average lines in southwestern PA. In just about any random 5 mile drive, I can find several trees leaning on lines. Within less than a mile of my house, there are two trees that have branches with a line through them - they grew around the line.

I'm almost halfway through the last one in the series. I wouldn't say they're the best ones I've read, but they're closer to that than to the worst. I haven't read any others by Maas, but I might.

I’ve seen a bunch of bad info on it in the past. People who I’d normally think are smart weren’t letting their kids get it. My son got his - glad they decided to add to who could get it.

I watched from upstate NY through the 70s and most of the 80s. I don’t remember which station, but there was a commercial for Pat’s Radiator right before it.

Too close to the truth.

Yeah, looks like some around here.

No! And I'm glad I'm not either then.

Money isn't a win. Votes are a win. Votes have to be earned, voters have to be motivated.

There’s a house I drive by frequently that has an RV and yard decked out in Trump stuff. I give it the finger every time I go by. This sucks.

Excellent! Congratulations!

Canada probably doesn't want most of Pennsylvania, though. It's pretty bad out here in-between the cities.

I salute Judge Reyes as well. Very well done.

Yeah, I've only gotten voicemail everywhere. I think all of them have form letters they send no matter what someone writes them. I got one from Reschenthaler last week - taking credit for DOGE finding all sorts of fraud (I need to it fact-check still), but nothing to do with what I wrote him.

I sent him a letter about keeping national parks and monuments safe and the response included a thing about balancing needs with preservation. I knew he was leaning right, but what else did he do? And yeah, I’m stuck in PA. My others are McCormick and Reschenthaler (full maga).

Think Tank has a pretty good assortment. My newest one is from them and it seems nice and sturdy. My last one was LowePro and I killed the zipper (took 25 years tho).

Nice shot! I have a few Holgas - there’s just something about them. I frequently find that Holga negs work well for lith prints.

A friend shared an altNPS post on Facebook and someone else started blathering about how they should all be fired. And posted that they just want to go to the parks for free and have nice clean campsites. They don’t get it. At all.

Aren’t pretty much all federal agencies understaffed to begin with? I know many state-level ones always were in MA (I was a forensic chemist at the state crime lab and we needed to practically double our numbers to keep up with the caseload).

I grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada from central New York State. Now I live near Pittsburgh, PA, and am a Penguins fan. So, of course, I'm cheering for Sid and team Canada. I wish I'd seen the fights.

And a Patriots fan.

I wish I’d stayed in MA. I’ll be grabbing some titles for non-school reading for my kiddo.

In addition to calling McCormick a bunch of times, I’d also sent him an email back when RFK Jr. was officially nominated. The email I got in return (yesterday) praised the “disrupters” that had been nominated for positions. I wanted to 🤮. I knew he’d vote to confirm, but still…

Great shot! I love rocks and water.

Being a disease detective was one of my top options when I was in college. I chose forensics instead, but it makes me very sad that their skill and expertise could be lost.

I've usually listened to 80s, classical, pop type stuff. After reading about everything in the show and in his music, I'll be looking up some Kendrick Lamar to listen to.

Definitely appeal, but also let your representative and senators know (state and federal). I don't think any of them have a clue how often things like this happen. Anyone who gets denied for any type of coverage should contact their elected officials. We can't fix the system on our own.

Same.

Part of the problem is that many (far too many) Americans think that “big pharma” already knows how to cure cancer and other diseases but is hiding the info. They don’t “believe” in research.

I think it's just revenge for being told that drinking bleach was a dumb idea. And the hydroxychloroquine. And dewormer. I don't think Trump can stand that there are people far smarter than he pretends to be.

“My” GOP senator’s DC voicemail was full, but I was able to leave a message at one of his state offices.

Glad you guys are ok! If you have rental coverage during repair, use it. When I hit a deer last winter, it took 2 1/2 months to fix it. I had to drive the Challenger ‘cause I didn’t have rental coverage.

Try some medium format B&W - so much fun. It really makes you think about what you're shooting when you only have 12-16 frames. I have an extra enlarger, too (I'm in Westmoreland County).

She’s kinda sweary and covers lots of stuff, but SciBabe (Yvette d’Entremont).

You should add NK Jemisin. She’s written great stories with wonderful world building.

Each is strong and has its own mood. Normally I’d chose monochrome but I want hope in life so I’ll choose color. Though the mono is kinda how I feel.

Maybe add your rep? And state level. The more they all hear, the better chance they may feel pressure.

I have the piano I grew up with. My parents downsized and I was the one who had played. It was originally my great aunt’s I think. Early 1900s, Duo-Art Weber (originally a player piano). What you did is great. Instruments should be played.

I see it on Nextdoor for my rural-ish area in southwest PA too. So aggravating.

Also Denali. It was Denali long before it was that guy from Ohio’s name. Report the errors to google maps.

Exactly what I was planning.

Well, just like the supplements aisle. They don’t see a difference between those and actual drugs because their last chemistry and biology classes were in high school.

I stand with Denali, always.
