I've long thought that we should have left one broken/shattered window pane un-repaired in the US Capitol, for similar reasons... as a reminder and a cautionary tale.

ok, but if he doesn't take his DOGE-bros with him, who the fuck cares? They are the problem. He's just an annoying child.

love this!

I'm not sure I ever fully believed all that, as you say... but I DID always believe that we were TRYING to 'form a more perfect union' -- sadly, it seems like those days are over.

Which bill is this, specifically?

Agreed, pure terror.

When the only possible resistance to you is the courts, what do you do? Use the full weight of the US Government to attack and intimidate lawyers bringing the cases of course.

Likely right, but when I understand the damage that DOGE-bros can do with "admin rights" in hours, and extrapolate that out to 2 years, my blood goes cold.

And by the way, Fuck character limits - this is not “X” - ideas are complex.

They just can't say the words "I disagree" - they just can't say them, it's an astonishing spectacle to watch.

Glad to have bluesky as an alternative, but they have a way to go -- you can't even "save" a post to read later.

Isn't "riveting storytelling" what novels are for?

Wait, was he sworn in? Did I miss it?

And don't let anyone talk about the property insurance mess in this 'blue' state of CA, when red-FL has the highest in the country...

Someone needs to be this generation's Daniel Ellsberg, and just release the damn report, or just mistakenly make it happen "oops, I hit the wrong key on may laptop" ... If it's not preserved somehow before jan-20, it's gone.

Idiotic - #1 FL is a big state and a small % is on the coast, and #2 I'm not "buying real estate" here - I've been here for 65 years, since I was a child

..."no sympathy for people in those states WHO VOTED FOR TRUMP" - ok, I get that, but the whole state?

Ingnorant reply

Fine? Not for the people who live there, some of who may have lived there all their lives but now can't afford insurance... Half the people in FL did NOT vote for that fucker.

Because SCOTUS-derived immunity, and controling the DOJ, and having the richest man in the world as a co-VP, does not give him 'enough' power, clearly... Jeezze.

Disney has DEEP scars from the DeSantis abuse of power, which fucked them up, likely for decades... I'm guessing Disney lawyers said "oh fuck, not this again"
comment in response to post
Correct... awarding electoral votes by district is NOT the answer. That would just be gerrymandering on steroids, bleeding over to another branch.

This has gone under the radar a bit. And what does “ invest in America” even mean? Is it on the NYSE?

Capitalism is great when strongly regulated.. otherwise it’s just fat predators and bloody prey

The problem... THE problem is timing. You can challenge all the books you want, by the hundreds. Fine. But you don't take them off the shelf BEFORE being reviewed! You also need a wide range of people on that review board.

I'd prefer 10-15 years, plus ethics-code-enforcement/teeth, and expansion to 13 justices ... to match the number of circuits..

If we 'know' what the issues are it's tough for them to be used as blackmail, so at least make sure the issues are public... then we can decide which transgressions are disqualifying.

You have to do some ‘shifts’ which is typically manning the front desk, helping people sign up for tours and ‘checking out’ crutches or other stuff they loan out.

They did not have a ‘meal plan’ or anything like that at the time. The camp had ‘able-bodied’ folks, like me, to help drive the art-car/tours and help around the camp, and they have mobility-challenged folks who are able to just enjoy the playa.

The last time I camped there was 2018, so things may have changed. But in general it’s a do-it-yourself camp. Bring it yourself. They provide a space for tents/RVs, a common shade area for some tents, and another with some tables, so people can cook there, and they provide a central area for power.

My camp, for 3 of my 5 visits to BRC, love those folks!!

He would go through his text books and excitedly point and say "See, he can't do that, it's illegal, oh shit" and fun stuff like that. I got a quick/free civics education, and became a lifelong junkie.
