If you’re cheering for a South African sociopath to fuck over US military veterans then you should probably stop with that America first bullshit.

Again, the wealth in that time period was owned by about 5 people. AND trans people are not the recipient of that wealth now. Also, asylum seekers don't come from asylums. I'm going to request with as much respect as the president deserves, that he STFU.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Here’s the hard truth: this country’s people are tired of subsidizing billionaires. Want your cars to sell? Do it without subsidies. Want to shoot rockets into space? Get by without govt contracts. Want to build a website? Build your own internet first. We are DONE with you.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

Floating the idea of them stupid ass checks from DOGE is literally a distraction while they keep ruining the country. "Here's 5000 bucks, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" (wizard of oz reference)

How does one express sincerest sympathy for a congressman currently battling cancer, while also asking that person to step aside, because said cancer battle is keeping them from voting on bills during a coup, without seeming ghoulish? Asking for a friend. The friend is AZ Congressional District 7.

I would like every elected Democrat in the country to ask themselves, "What would John Lewis do?" And then do that.

The government cannot stop you from informing others about their legal rights. Know your rights when educating your community.

The Google AI results at the top of searches are so pointless. We have a resource (the internet!) that knows everything, and instead of going to the source, it's like you asked your stupid cousin who is trying to recall the information from a podcast he heard last week.

Democratic leaders: I think it's abundantly clear at this point that simply going along to get along ain't gonna work. Trying to negotiate ain't gonna work. Being collegial ain't gonna work. What you're doing right now isn't working. Take your gloves off and punch back. Hard.

GOP: let’s pretend to help people while we steal from them and they probably won’t notice Dems: let’s think about doing something as part of a 26 step process that respects the bipartisanship of 1996, and then cop out

ProPublica found that some of the largest health insurers have created a playbook that prevents people from getting the mental health care they need. Join us tomorrow, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. ET for a virtual conversation as we discuss barriers to care. RSVP: https://propub.li/4k4GYWm

If I had a band or a label, I would do a punk cover of "No More Kings" from Schoolhouse Rock. And then I would gather a bunch of people to write a whole album of next-generation Schoolhouse Rock songs, with songs about Social Security and Medicaid and NOAA. I am not kidding in the least.

DOGE having access to Americans' Social Security data isn't just a major security breach. It's part of a deliberate ploy to cut benefits — using the false pretext of "waste and fraud" — and have Congress use the savings to give billionaires another giant tax cut. Be warned.

The disconnect hurts my brain, but Eli thinks he's...helping?

The idea that the harm will only come to other people is such an under-appreciated part of how we got here.

Federal workers, we recognize that this is an unpredictable time. Our team is actively pairing your tips with reporters on this list and across our newsroom to make sure you're speaking to someone with the right expertise. How to get in touch:

As I told The Guardian, multiple comments by Trump and allies targeting courts is a disturbing attack on the important role of the judiciary in our constitutional system as a check on other branches.

The UK has a shadow cabinet - political positions within the party that isn’t in power - and so should we. Plus, we need weekly press briefings led by @petebuttigieg.bsky.social on the state of the union. Business-as-usual time is over.

Trump thinking he and Putin will just decide Ukraine's fate without Ukraine even being in the room is totally on brand for Republicans who repeatedly hold congressional committee meetings on women's rights without a single woman being present.

The flying public needs answers. How many FAA personnel were just fired? What positions? And why?

An important point to keep in mind.

Again, Trump fired SBA Inspector General Mike Ware after he found $200 billion in fraud in Trump's COVID programs and returned $40B to the US Treasury. Instead, Trump brought in a bunch of fascist boys who know nothing about accounting. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Elon's DOGE is going to be America's Brexit, full of unintended consequences and buyer's remorse.

This is what oligarchy looks like.

Another way the dictatorship might kill you. This is from a friend who is a retired air traffic controller.

Remember, if you see anyone *else* reporting from the Oval Office or Air Force One, that person is a spineless scab.

Even judges and prosecutors APPOINTED BY TRUMP are refusing to obey Trump. Have faith. Keep fighting.

NEW — In an alarming email last night reviewed by me, Coast Guard members learned that 1,135 members' direct deposit account routing information was compromised due to a data breach from unauthorized access. It was only discovered because an officer “reported anomalous activity” on their account.

This is important. Not because Miller will ever be consistent in his pleadings for presidential power but because it’s a public service to demonstrate to anyone who might entertain a shadow of a doubt that there’s no neutral principle here. He wants power for his guy, full stop.

Trump/Musk are gutting federal government provided services for one reason: To privatize them. In other words,Trump will give his wealthy oligarchs big fat contracts to provide the same services the federal government had been providing. This is all about the oligarchs getting richer at our expense!

This is how you do it. Thank you, @tupelopress.bsky.social!!!

When I worked at NIH after college I remember a quote on the walls along the lines of "Think research is expensive? Try disease."

How incredibly terrified of any other group of humanity do these entitled white men have to be? They must be shaking in their boots when they do this shit. So weird, and very, very weak.

Breaking "the government" and replacing the "deep state" civil servants with AI bots programmed by 20-something right wing Elon fanboys may sound like a great idea until it's time to eat an egg or a chicken sandwich without fear of getting sick, or deal with a hurricane or get on an airplane.

You know what radicalised me? Discovering that there is ONE gun shop in Mexico. One Single Shop. The cartel guns? They're smuggled in from the USA.

Trump is doing by executive order what he is too weak to do by legislation. He does not have the votes in Congress. He wouldn't be able to get ANY of this passed if he tried. He is the WEAKEST incoming president in 50 years.

BREAKING - Kash Patel has stake in Chinese slave labor company, via Caymans holding company He REFUSES to divest - and he may have LIED on disclosure forms about it Marco Rubio + other Trumpers RIPPED this same Chinese co, Shein, for using Uyghurs as slaves - and dodging taxes

American workers pay into this system. This is our money!
