At a minimum, the American people should know that the fed govt and every fed worker works for and are accountable to them. Privatization shifts to a profit motive where those being served aren’t the priority, shareholders and execs are, and under existing law, they’re likely accountable to no one.

This decision shouldn’t have been 5-4. The constitution is pretty clear, and Congress stated over 50 years ago what their expectations is appropriated funds is. So the Constitution + Youngstown factors applying the Impoundment Control Act should say President exceeded his authority. The end.

So there happens to be a Supreme Court case that addresses whether and how federal funds can be used to indirectly regulate policy in the states. Among other things, the goal must be related to the original purpose of the funds and it cannot be unduly coercive. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
