Great for the environment actually. Significantly less air traffic? Green win!

From what I can tell, their argument is that the president can unilaterally cancel and rescind already appropriated funds and then any suits seeking payment of those funds is magically converted to a suit for compensatory damages? A bit of a stretch.

Refuse unanimous consent. Make every legislative avenue as painful as possible for them. Make them work hard to achieve the pain they will inflict on us.

Do more to fight for federal workers. Make the case directly to the American people how federal workers help operations move efficiently and waste and abuse and potential fraud. Without them, those functions aren’t accomplished, and those seeking benefits they’re entitled to are left w/o recourse.

Extremely this!!! Who’s standing up for federal workers and contractors who are wondering whether they’ll be able to pay their bills next month. This may be a game to them, but it’s certainly not for any of us with skin in the game.

To be fair, Chris, no one with any real power has told him he’s not.

So if you look at their recent memo on reorganization and RIFs, it clearly shows they want to have a bare bones structure just above those who are considered essential for Antideficiency Act purposes. Which is very much NOT the same thing as essential for continued operation of the government.

Yes, actually. Even if the Senate Republicans were too cowardly to do their duty to the country, it mattered. People in power have to use their office to speak up (or not). They work for us still. And the American people should know whose side they’re on.

It does matter because it would force the Senate to vote on it and explain to the America people why they have a king now.

A sale to lease back would be the chef’s kiss to all of this. It would just show that the American people are no longer sovereign but for real.

We lost a bit when we did away with a Parliament. What I would give to have a PMQs where the Trump or Mike Johnson had to explain themselves and answer questions about their proposals. The fact they never have that adversarial process makes our democracy weaker.

And for education, they don’t understand that states control curricula and how children are taught. Cutting the Dept of Education and block granting everything would allow no oversight of how funds are used and would do the very things they say they don’t want! Someone needs to make this case.

Can someone make an impassioned case as to how aid funding can stop Ebola or Marburg at the source rather than allow it to potentially get here without any intervention.

Can one of the things discussed be how Republicans and the administration clearly have no understanding of the programs they intend to eviscerate? If they’re concerned about how federal funds are spent, why do they just want to block grant funds to states with no oversight?
