This is pure extortion. Musk has far too much power for one person and also has enormous conflicts of interest in any role he serves in government. Both will have to be addressed if we want democracy, prosperity, and stability.

I don't know how any American parent can ever again look their kid in the face and honestly tell them not to let the pigeon drive the bus

This is my perfect beautiful kitten who is for some reason tooting all over me right now in the most rank manner. Face of an angel, bowel system of a 65 yr old beef and cheese eater.

There’s not a word in this story about the corrupt nature of this dismissal. Not a concern voiced, not a question raised, not even an acknowledgment that he’s the president’s biggest donor and he’s acting as an unelected, unconfirmed tyro wielding unchecked power over spending and the civil service.

Cuts to NSF expected to be at 50% reduction in force for an independent agency that fuels discovery and innovation. "The NSF budget was $9B, or 0.13% of the total [budget]." This is not about fiscal prudence. This is about killing universities. nanoscale.blogspot.com/2025/02/the-...

I feel so sick. Enough with the lies, enough with the games. They know exactly what they're doing. This is a neo-Nazi movement. Proudly so. The only reason they've kept it coded up until now was to take advantage of those who didn't want to believe it. No more looking away. Face up to what it is.

The past ten years has just been the same clutch of morons and apologists insisting that Trump would never cross that line and then shuffling along with him to insist that he would never cross that next one.

I think there is a very big problem we have to grapple with which is that the median voter is extraordinarily deluded about the working of the world to the point of complete mental incapacity.

This is terrifying - it suggests that there is a much bigger picture at play here - where the vision is to overthrow democracy and replace it with corporate, for profit technological entities where algorithms set the rules. It contends even Trump isn’t aware - he’s just a useful idiot in effect.

Here are the four SpaceX people infiltrated into FAA on a disability line after FAA fired 400 people. www.wired.com/story/faa-do...

Get me back on that timeline, please.

A good thing to do if you are flailing a bit right now (as who is not??) is to get in touch with your own values, the things that you find life affirming and necessary in the world. Read some inspiring works about things you value - labor solidarity, scientific achievement, social justice.

NEW: DOGE technologists Edward Coristine—the 19-year-old known online as “Big Balls”—and Kyle Schutt are now listed as staff at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

More of this.

3rd day in a row on the golf course while Musk runs the country. He didn’t even know yesterday that the head of the Social Security Admin resigned, and didn’t know SpaceX employees were working at the FAA/DOD, and claimed Medicaid wasn’t being cut when it’s being cut massively.

DOGE recommended firing workers at: -FDA, which oversees Neuralink -FAA, which oversees SpaceX -USAID, which probed Starlink -CFPB, which oversees Tesla's financing arm and a potential payment platform on X. "Conflict of interest" is a severe understatement.

The party of free speech!

🚨 Standing beside and introducing Trump, an OMB official just announced Trump signed an executive order asserting that “only the President and the Attorney General can speak for the United States when stating an opinion as to what the law is.”

YES

First nukes, now eggs

Just to be clear, because I don’t think the Post story highlights it enough: This was Trump’s day-one pick to lead the Social Security Admin until his nominee got confirmed who RESIGNED a career job rather than do what Musk’s DOGE team wants. This is Treasury (DOGE) and DOJ (Adams) all over again.

Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post would not run this ad. This is the power of oligarchy.

How was this contract awarded??!

Kleptocracy

Donald Trump, Elon Musk and the Republican Party want your older relatives to get scammed.

On the long list of shameful and personally revealing things Trump is doing, pressuring Romania to release the rapist sex trafficker Andrew Tate is certainly up there. Trump relates more to a criminal like him than he does our European allies, and making him an international embarrassment.

Over 2,000 webpages containing LGBTQ+ information have been removed from federal government websites.

Whoopsie!

Idk some of us caught on pretty early

The flying public needs answers. How many FAA personnel were just fired? What positions? And why?

Musk is firing people who operate the Veterans Crisis Line. One of the most substantial and successful tools to fight veteran suicide today. They literally did a 2014 documentary about it that won an Oscar. Can someone point me to the outrage from the MAGA “we love the troops” crowd?

Here is the ad the Washington Post refused to run about Elon Musk this weekend. And here is the ad the Post was happy to run by a rightwing group funded by Musk that smeared me in October. I started Democracy Docket to be fiercely independent and prodemocracy. Check it out. www.democracydocket.com

Here’s a description of the rejected ad. Does anyone have the actual copy? It should be disseminated widely.

Tom Homan asks “where is that line,” as if it is mysterious or unknowable. It’s not. Tom’s saying it that way because he’s too much of a coward just to say “she should be arrested for telling people their rights.” Also, to be fair, he may be too dim to understand the line.

BREAKING: An IRS employee who is affiliated with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency has accessed an IRS system that holds sensitive taxpayer information, according to a Trump administration official.

🚨 SCOOP: DOGE is seeking personal taxpayer data at IRS, sources tell me. 🚨 Trump admin is pushing IRS to agree to an MOU that would give DOGE access to granular data on every taxpayer, business and nonprofit in the country.

In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed, marking the legal end to Jim Crow in the USA. Its Title VI banned discrimination by race among any institution that receives Federal funds. On Friday, the Acting head of the Ed Dept sent out this letter to all 50 states: www.ed.gov/media/docume...

The unitary executive theory is about to get its test case. SCOTUS will decide whether to give Trump the keys to the destruction of our federal government.

O.M.G. What are we now, the Mafia?!? Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected a Trump regime request this week that Kyiv hand over 50 percent of its rare-earth mineral resources — “an extraordinary demand” www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Any network still covering events at the White House enabled and continues to enable this.

this is straight up McCarthyism

Last night, we broke the news that the top US election security watchdog has frozen all of its election security work and is reviewing everything it has done to help state and local officials secure their elections for the past eight years. https://wrd.cm/3QkfGh3

Weak sauce, @axios.com We’ll be calling it “Gulf of Mexico” even in the gulags, and we’d boycott White House pressers if we were up there to stand in solidarity with the AP — even if they won’t stand in solidarity as we’re banned from Speaker Sexton’s pressers here in Tennessee.

They think that the people who have spent their careers will just quietly go along with their cruelty.

Feels like a shift from 2017, when Trump said "Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice." Ignorant, of course—but noting Douglass is worthy of admiration. Now they don't bother. He's out because he's Black.
