I was in and out of the ER regularly for years and constantly unwell and my doctors thought I was exaggerating until I started bleeding internally (which is when they realized I was Celiac) and I -still- can't absorb nutrients properly and I've been 100% gluten free for 5 years now

people hyperfocus on persuading individual people over an undetermined amount of time to gain rights not because it's effective, but because it avoids conflict, because it keeps things quiet and "peaceful".

Yeah, people aren't like "we should stop this" and instead are more "well I guess you should learn a new field if you are affected??? Good luck!!!!!!" not realizing basically everyone will be affected and we need UBI. Like COVID, people just assume they personally won't have problems with it.
