Imagine being obliterated in a rocket explosion 11,000 feet above the Gulf of Mexico because you picked McNeese State over Gonzaga in the Sweet 16.

chat.. did we just witness the greatest dunk in the history of the universe

i think this is basically what has happened a big chunk of the american pundit class

“Be careful. When a democracy is sick, fascism comes to its bedside, but it is not to inquire about its health.” Albert Camus

Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

US farmers sold $2 billion of food to USAID. Not any more. - US farmers provided 41% of food delivered by USAID - $340M of purchases/shipments are now paused. Over 680,000 tonnes. - Food stranded in Houston - Aid stopped in transit. The world’s poor starving, food rotting & US farmers screwed.

The Portland Trail Blazers will bring peace to this broken land. We are America's Team.

The motherfucking Portland motherfucking Trail Blazers.

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country

REPORTER: You would agree it's never acceptable to assault police officers? TRUMP: Sure REPORTER: Among those you pardoned is a guy who used a stun gun on a police officer. Why does he deserve a pardon? TRUMP: Well, I don't know

So here's what's cool about my job: Yesterday morning I said, "We really ought to have TWIN PEAKS available." So then a bunch of people scrambled, worked really hard, and now you can watch every episode of David Lynch & Mark Frost's original series for free on Pluto TV: pluto.tv/us/on-demand...

some ways to generate electricity A) use sunlight to drive photosynthesis in plants, let plants die, wait ~100 million years, dig up fossilized plants, burn plants, use heat to boil water, use steam to drive a rotating turbine, use generator to make electrons B) use sunlight to make electrons

one of my favorite quotes from David Lynch, about the magic of Los Angeles

RIP, David Lynch. Truly one of the great weirdoes in film and television history.

"In every modern health-care system, some institution is charged with rationing care."

My annual best songs of the year playlist: open.spotify.com/playlist/3A9... lots of great music again this year.

It has been a, uh, difficult week but I have not laughed louder and harder at something in a very long time than at this.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing. They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays. The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k. www.businessinsider.com/denver-basic...

I also created a general Ringer starter pack, including everyone I could find across the NBA, NFL and pop culture. (Again, if I've missed anyone, please let me know!) go.bsky.app/FxqmjUy

Annual morbidity in the 20th century, before and after vaccines: Measles: Before: 530,000, After: 47 Mumps: Before: 160,000, After: 429 Rubella: Before: 50,000, After: 3 Diphtheria: Before: 20,000, After: 2 Smallpox: Before: 30,000, After: 0 Polio: Before: 16,000, After: 0

I can’t stop thinking about this quote from an undocumented immigrant in PA. How do you even campaign against this.

In the year of our lord 2024 adults walk up to hosts at busy restaurants on a Saturday and are shocked at the very concept of reservations

Vaccines are just extraordinary. And as someone who grew up before many of these vaccines: even if you don't die or have long-term health issues as a result of these illnesses, they are no fun anyways. I had rubella and mumps at the same time. It sucked.
