This is true. There’s even an argument to be made that the steady presence of Orz through the Claremont run is more important than who the penciler is at maintaining the “This is the X-Men” experience.

One of the most enjoyable film, history articles I’ve read in a while. I had no idea about the long history of this set. Incredible details here. @filmstories.bsky.social is a treasure.

Okay, so I think I figured my core problem with TLOU2 (the game): I like the characters a lot, I like most of their scenes, but the revenge plot doesn’t make sense to me. Mostly on Ellie’s side—you need a -lot- of rage and grief to commit that intensely, and game Ellie doesn’t read that way at all.

u have been warned

A highlight from the (excellent) new Ben Affleck Criterion Closet vid.

This whole story rules but this is where it soars to Coen Brothers movie levels (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2025/04/24/m...

Someone on Threads noticed you can type any random sentence into Google, then add “meaning” afterwards, and you’ll get an AI explanation of a famous idiom or phrase you just made up. Here is mine

This concept was previously vetted by Mr. Steven Spielberg and by all accounts, it worked out TOTALLY fine

The discourse around tariffs has been “things will get more expensive” but I am here to tell you that I am knee deep in reporting on this subject and I strongly suspect that if super high tariffs endure, it will shift to *certain items cease to be available at any price*

Gotta love how @katiebakes.bsky.social mentions the unlikely etymology of Ovechkin's surname midway through the piece, then deftly and wittily calls back to that supposed throwaway tidbit in the third-to-last paragraph. theringer.com/2025/04/07/n...

That MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE trailer feels like the series finale for all movies.

Universal Studios: For when your quasi-stepdad fails to save your girlfriend’s life and you need to get away from it all.

Love this protest sign! 🔥

My husband and I run a game store and after all the tariff announcements, he decided to write out kind of a "behind the scenes" of how we spend and spill it out for people who don't understand. He's had so many reactions and shares I wanted to bring it here, too.

“25th Hour is a movie about unwanted change & forced adaptation, about how our choices have consequences we can’t foresee, how our identities are impossible-to-parse combinations of nature & nurture & nationalism, how the myth of the American dream is persistent & relies on our performance of it.”

You had me at "Walton Goggins IS Peter Tomarken." (But it also stars Paul Walter Hauser and features David Strathairn and Maisie Williams—yes, Anya Stark is back—in supporting roles. Unclear who's playing the various Whammys.)

This is the ideal male body. You may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like.

Name a more iconic five episode run than Surprise, Innocence, Phases, Bewitched Bothered & Bewildered, and Passion.

financial advice in a weird time: -- develop a plan -- find friends who support you -- preferably 10 of them -- steal $160 million from the Bellagio, the Mirage, and the MGM Grand -- yes those are Terry Benedict's casinos -- get your wife back -- one of the friends should be Don Cheadle btw simple

Here's a fun thing: We at Kirkus have spent the last few months reading and debating the best books of the 21st century (so far!) in fiction, nonfiction, and young readers' literature. Here's the list of 100 fiction titles: www.kirkusreviews.com/fiction/best...

I played the Switch 2 at a press event in NYC yesterday. Some thoughts: - It's slightly bigger but otherwise feels just like the Switch - The mouse controls take some getting used to - Mario Kart World is spectacular and going to sell a kajillion copies More: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

I'm supposed to be at Sweet Briar College, where I was so excited to meet with the amazing students, faculty, and staff who organized my visit & made Mobility their Common Read. Hours before my flight I learned about their Board's exclusion of trans & nonbinary people. So now I'm not going.

feels like time to start breaking in a new work-related vendetta, and i think it's going to be the entire concept of "filler episodes"

These clowns should be extinct, look at them.

BlueSky becoming more useful for news basically every day. Simple reason: None of that Elon trash code that punishes direct links. People share stories and we click, like God intended.

Americans are in denial about the implications here because they wish it wasn't happening. But this is the behavior of a dictator. It's the sort of thing that warrants secession or revolution. The Republic is over the second federal funding is withheld pending a governor's personal apology.
