One of the most shocking parts of the 2017 tax fight was how openly corrupt it all was. I have no real problem with "bridge to nowhere" and "cornhusker kickback" type logrolling to get more federal $$ for constituents. But TCJA's holdouts were all about lining their own pockets!

It just occurred to me — and this is probably not the case! — that this may be the third recent major election in which Trump has thrown the result to his ideological opponents by bigfooting around where no one wanted him.

this is such good news. i think it is also an opportunity for democrats to state forthrightly that when they win power again everyone responsible for this crime will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and will face the american people to answer for their lawlessness

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

A couple thoughts on this. First, it's good that they're pushing back on Medicaid cuts. Because it means that all the pressure they're getting at the townhalls they decided to stop holding is working. Keep the pressure up. BUT...

During an already very dark time in US history, I unfortunately have more bad news this #TaxDay2025: Despite what some say, the tax bill moving through Congress right now will make everything worse! 🧵 1/ #BillionaireTaxBailout

Warning: Life-size model may cause harm to the economy and our democracy.

Whether it’s Republicans causing chaos with random arrests and deportations, Republicans causing chaos with mass layoffs, or Republicans causing chaos with whiplash tariffs, voters are exhausted by chaos from both parties.

This is driving me crazy too. Not long ago 10% universal tariffs were considered the worst-case scenario, something even Trump wasn’t crazy enough to impose. Now have those PLUS 125% tariffs on China. Together, these raise raise inflation by about as much as original “Liberation Day” tariffs did!

just saw a whip count for this morning’s possible budget vote and several names had KTF (*known to fold) after them and I can’t think of a tag I’d personally find more devastating tbh

I'll be tweeting clips from @patrioticmillionaires.org's "How to Beat the Broligarchs" event this morning in this thread as part of my partnership with @snapstream.com. Follow along!

The stock market is something we watch and feel and measure, so its collapse is well-tracked. But when you see the charts of a straight downward trajectory, they also summarize what’s happening with cancer research, academic freedom, basic rights, America’s standing in the world, and so much more.

The consensus on Wall Street among savvy people paid millions to predict things was exactly what very low-information voters thought: "Trump can't mean what he says because that's ridiculous, what he'll really do is what I personally hope he does."

I mean, true, but not by changing statutory rates...

Trying to explain to a friend what deficit neutral reserve funds are in budget resolutions and all I can think is how *deeply unserious* the United States Senate was long before Trump came on the scene.

"We cannot overstate what has just happened. It took just 71 days for Donald Trump to wreck the American economy, mortally wound NATO, and destroy the American-led world order" from @jvl.bsky.social www.thebulwark.com/p/the-americ...

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge. As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do. They can't keep spewing carbon. They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying. They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

Let me get this straight: we can't "afford" to track disease, research cures or make sure food and drugs are safe, but we can afford to spend $4.5 trillion on tax breaks that mostly go to the rich?

all jokes aside, the idea of getting china, japan, and south korea to agree to literally anything is wild and speaks to just how much of a colossal disaster trump is internationally.

Elon Musk has been a walking SEC violation for a decade and no one cared. The entire Trump era could have been avoided if the US took white collar crime anywhere near as seriously as it does low level drug crime.

In other words, this is POLITICAL TERROR masquerading as a visa issue. Fuck you, Marco Rubio

Pete Hegseth is a f*cking liar. This is so clearly classified info he recklessly leaked that could’ve gotten our pilots killed. He needs to resign in disgrace immediately.

The most obvious lesson to draw from the leaked Signal chat is that these people really are morons. It's not a public act, it's not a schtick, there's not some secret back room where they drop the facade. They are genuinely stupid, incompetent people.

Chuck’s plan to protect DC is as plausible as Bernie’s was to barnstorm M4A into law. I warned our coalition last week: unless there’s a must-past vehicle requiring Dem votes that this can hitch a ride on, they have no realistic way to save DC. Time to start bringing Schumer our trash.

The president is trying to illegally fire me. Who does this help? Does it help you? Or does it help the billionaires over the president’s shoulder at the inauguration?

This can't be, Chuck Schumer told us he prevented it.

I appreciate confirmation of what we could see in real time: his Wednesday speech was a lie, he made House Dems do the heavy lifting then abandoned them, he had no fallback plan if House Republicans didn’t implode.

You literally cannot tell this incredibly cool part of American history without centering Native American identity. It is an powerful demonstration of how diversity provided tangible military advantages over an enemy committed to White supremacy. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/whitewashi...

Trump’s Pentagon is erasing Navajo Code Talkers—Indigenous warriors who helped win WWII—from military websites. This isn’t about “efficiency.” It’s about whitewashing history and erasing those who don’t fit his MAGA narrative. MORE: www.axios.com/local/salt-l...

Two Republican senators told me tonight this vote shows they can execute the same strategy again — cut Democrats out of the negotiations on a gov’t funding bill, pass it thru the House, and expect Senate Dems to back down and not filibuster it. “We liked it over here,” one said.
