Not withstanding farmers and JSO should be treated equally.
PS. One of the gantry 5 is a farmer.

JSO joined with farmers at the November protest in Whitehall to support the action. I for one was happy to see them there. These protests are not just about the changes to IHT but also the reduction of government support payments to climate mitigation and biodiversity loss.

I used to work at the World Service in the 90s/00s and it was wall to wall corduroy. I was lucky, my boss was a women (defo non BBC pronunciation) and she brought in lots of younger women.

You are forgetting Musk Ox, Polar Bears and Artic Foxes. Some consolation for the rewilding community though.

Blimey, reading this thread leads me to believe we are getting the politicians we deserve. What happened to reasoned argument and analysis? What hope for the reimagining a of different ecosystem for civil society governance and provision?

We’ve just had the warmest January on record @ 1.75 above pre-industrial levels.

The good news is that the excellent @ffc-commission.bsky.social is involved. But with DEFRA’s seeming indifference to ELMS, implementation may stagnate in the future.

The proposed NRF is like some Orwellian dystopia where nature is measured as a commodity to be traded and consumed by the markets. Using the NRF to speed up the building of more roads houses and airports is nothing short of ecocide.

Great piece of writing. Alongside the dimming of the elite by 2 WWs, there has been a diminishing influence/acceptance from faith and civic groups to underpin social equity? Protest groups are not shifting the dial enough, so which existing structures can mobilise citizens?

Coming on the back of the new APR reform this is a huge setback for nature friendly farming. If government wants farmers to be match funders for climate and nature there has to be stability and continuity in funding and policy.

Both have their +- Not sure why but I never got any nasties or bots on Twitter 🤷🏽♀️ so still happily chatting with other farmers. Defo different following on here though.

The problem also comes with the idea that one must agree with the entire canon of what x or y says otherwise one is a traitor or degenerate.

The very populists who now spin farmers genuine grievances are the very ones who caused the pain and destruction in the first instance

Citizens and farmers alike struggle in a system where multinational corporations profit from cheap, unhealthy ultra-processed food and unfair supply chains. Fixing food through better, joined-up food policy could mean a fairer deal for farmers, healthy food for all, and a healthier planet to boot.

I worked on a water programme when NVZs rolled out in England in a big dairy area. Lots a peer to peer support made a big difference
