What a great use of taxpayer resources here! Witch hunts against political rivals, and running down the rabbit holes of conspiracy theories. Waste your own time all you want--but stop wasting *my* money and exploiting public office for personal political gain. www.ajc.com/politics/geo...

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

L'etat, c'est moi.

Quite an exchange here between Judge Reyes and DOJ attorney on how "pronoun usage" affects military readiness.

Musk is an unelected, unconfirmed private citizen with access to classified information, financial systems, and federal policy decisions—all while running companies that directly profit from government contracts. This is corruption, plain and simple.

The government that spent its first week taking down hundreds of websites to scrub them of references to transpersons, diversity initiatives, and climate change wants to tell Europe that they have a free speech problem.

I see we have reached the "I know you are, but what am I" stage of defending actions found unlawful and sometimes unconstitutional (and subsequently ignoring the rulings). apnews.com/article/trum...

What Donald Trump is allowing Elon Musk and his DOGE team to do is not an audit. It is a coup. This an incredibly dangerous moment—and it is all the more dangerous if people don’t understand what is happening. https://youtu.be/jrE0DOEcbRE

Two lawyers, one Yale educated, one Harvard educated; one the VP, one a senator, suggesting that decisions made by courts aren’t legitimate if they don’t like the outcome. This is dangerous territory.

TODAY: We’re in the Capitol where we expect the Georgia State Senate to take up SB1, a broad bill that bans trans youth from participating in all school sports and ban trans athletes from using the correct restrooms and locker rooms. Follow this thread and @gaequality.bsky.social for updates! 1/x

A judge in RI stopped Trump’s unconstitutional impoundment of federal funds-but only for the plaintiff states. We in GOP states just have to take our lumps, I guess, since our AGs don’t care enough to fight for needed (and lawfully appropriated) funds. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

For no particular reason, just thought it would be timely to point out that Congress has prohibited the federal government from exercising any control over state k-12 curriculum choices. uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?r...

The way Georgia manages, and mismanages, judicial elections has long been a point of contention for me. I was grateful that @taniel.bsky.social gave me the opportunity to vent my spleen on this issue. boltsmag.org/georgia-judi...

The Air Force is stripping Tuskegee Airmen lessons from basic training curriculum because of our White supremacist government. Put that in a headline. www.expressnews.com/news/article...

Trump is deprioritizing the deportation of actually dangerous people on order to ensure that all undocumented people are afraid. And he’s prioritizing deportations of non-dangerous people over enforcement of all other crimes. The man is committed to his racism.

Trump just literally eliminated an Executive Order to reduce the price of prescription drugs. They are ripping you off, personally. They never gave a shit about the price of anything.

No matter where you fall on the TikTok ban, the President undoing by “executive order” a law passed by Congress and upheld unanimously by the Supreme Court is an unconstitutional abuse of power.

Nothing says Chinese disinfo operation like cutting off your multi billion dollar website over a ban that isn't being enforced and blasting "don't worry, Trump will save us" at hundreds of millions of people

Question for folks-do you all block the bots who follow you, or just ignore them? 🧐

Risk Assessment by insurance professionals makes clear what I've always thought mainstream economists were missing when predicting our future. Perhaps this clarity finally jumpstart governments (and the people) to change the pace. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

The facts are, the ACA saved millions with pre-existing conditions and set standards for care. But now, more than a decade later, with what we now know, it’s time to take the insurance companies out of the mix. The subsidies they get are enormous. We don’t need them as middlemen.

Any elected official without the courage to stand up for their own principles does not deserve to hold office. Filling the administration with incompetent fools and sycophants is designed to fail-so that we lose all faith in government.

have been deep into us constitutional history for some stuff i’m working on and one thing that i am angry about all over again is the ahistorical and extra-constitutional vision of separation of powers roberts deploys in trump v. us

If you are reporting on Judge Cannon’s orders, and you don’t mention her lack of jurisdiction in the first graf, you’re doing it wrong. A Wendy’s has as much legal authority to issue an order as she’s got right now in the documents case. And that’s essential context.

This paper is a great example of solid evidence of systemic discrimination: "Black taxpayers are audited at 2.9 to 4.7 times the rate of non-Black taxpayers." This reflects a series of choices built into the IRS audit algorithm: focus on the EITC, and overclaiming of credits.

One thing that I think Dem-messaging-forward analyses like these need to grapple with, but never do, is that in the swing states, the places that got the biggest volume and concentration of Dem messaging, performance relative to 2020 was better than everywhere else.

"When conspiracy theories and nonsense cures are widely accepted, the evidence-based concepts of guilt and criminality vanish quickly too." www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

Facebook suppressed promotion of political content during a Democratic administration and is restoring it for a Republican one

There is no serious legal basis for the litigation challenging the Dem win for NC Supreme Court, and they are not following the proper procedure. This isn't a case of well it was close, a recount might still flip it. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say it's an attempt to steal the election.

The fact that Republicans only allow for peaceful transfer of power when they win, and that the Democratic Party adheres to norms, is not a "win" for democracy. It's a sign of an imbalanced, weak democracy.

While we’re banning books… Finland is teaching children in school how to recognize fake news and propaganda as part of critical thinking and civic responsibility. Some of this will seem very familiar. Be. Like. Finland.

The ability to mock our leaders is a hallmark of democracy. This is about much more than simply being thin-skinned. This is about suppressing dissent.
