It took till the 60's to make laws about civil rights.
It took till 1990 for the disabled to get rights by law.

You fuss about the disabled, then throw out the biggest issue to the disabled. Honestly, unless you're lucky enough to be born rich or have things fall in line perfectly, disability is almost always a one way ticket to poverty.

Honestly, part of the problem is that most of the live action versions come off as a cheap cash grab with narry a thought other than to grab the Gen X and Millennial nostalgia train. To me, most of them so far have been rather poor, but maybe it's me just being too critical of hollywood

Just make some laws restricting their uses. Frankly, I can see these tools can be used for good and evil, allowing police to catch criminals. But it can also be used for nefarious means. So they should pass laws dealing with this, otherwise they'll make up their own rules.
