The two teachers in these movies being fictionalized versions of their actors is kind of a brilliant addition.
Fascist regimes kill art so Takeshi Kitano and Riki Takeuchi probably wouldn't have made it as actors, so they ended up as suicidally depressed school teachers instead.

If you think "this isn't a dream" while you are awake, you will just carry on thinking that while you're actually dreaming.
I've had much better results assuming I'm dreaming and in that mindset observing what my surroundings are made of.

Imo they overreached with a very bold opening but then had trouble cashing in on it for the rest of the runtime.
It loses so much depth that the Thanos they end up fighting isn't even the one they have a history with. The final villain is just a generic doomsday guy in a Thanos skin.

Battle Royale II was ridiculously brave especially in 2003, but also not nearly as good as the first one.

That's such a "I have never worked with a computer" mistake too.

I always forget that most of the violence in the film is more implied than shown. Someone fires a gun and in the next scene there's some red paint on the other person's clothes, they're not even damaged.
They DO throw around a lot of red paint though.

Spiteful drunkards putting in an exorbitant amount of effort to be correct in arguments they won't remember in the morning makes more sense honestly.

Does that mean you had a lucid dream because you were disappointed by Twin Snakes?

This is just a rapid unscheduled disassembly. No need to investigate.

I have now also seen the full movie again.
I think I may be annoying about Battle Royale for a while.

It's 650 pages and I read it in less than 4 days.
The problem is that you pretty much mourn every single one of those 42 people. ðŸ˜
Well, maybe not Kiriyama.

He's so fucking stupid and destructive but him and his dumbass followers are stuck in his personal media bubble.
I need him and the people in his orbit to suffer consequences. Jesus Christ.

Jeez, the book goes especially hard on the theme of fascist governments robbing regular people as complex as any of us of their dreams and futures.
This gets brutal.

I'm not familiar enough with Madame Bovary, but this starts with outlining Japan as an Asian Nazi empire that never lost in WWII where practically everyone has a story of the state murdering someone they knew just to send a message, and that's before the kids are dropped on Murder Island.

I've seen the film almost 20 years ago and regularly still think about it but never really revisited it (because disturbing).
I also tried reading the manga before but that art style DOES NOT work for me.
