Then do something about this and all Trump/MAGA/Musk lawlessness.
Call this what it is: A coup.
Call us to the streets. Use your party’s infrastructure to organize a vigorous opposition that goes right up to the line of what’s legal and leans over it.
Think how South Koreans stopped martial law.

Unfortunately, there’s a legal reason for approving the CR.
It can be fought in court. Actions Chump & Musk take in response to a govt shutdown cannot. They can cut or fund at will.
Sucks. But, somehow, that is the law. Yes. WTF.

The decision lies solely with the president, legally.

My wife just read Schumer’s piece in the NY TIMES explaining his decision. Senator, allow me to help. Imagine republicans based a bill ending social security. That can be overturned in court. But if a president decides social security is not essential during a govt shutdown, nothing can be done.

I wish Schumer could articulate his thinking more clearly & with greater passion. But he is right.

Meaning, once closed, Trump & Musk can eliminate or fund whatever they want, with no legal recourse. And only Trump & Musk have can say when a shutdown ends. It becomes a legal dictorship, even more than the perversion we have now.

And the sgt at arms should have been resisted, by every able bodied democrat.
Gently, but firmly.
Politics has become war by other means.
We didn’t ask for it or want it. But we must answer it.

Again, you are so special. And I almost have no place commenting. I haven’t dedicated myself to public service, haven’t accomplished what you have. But you & the democrats blew it last night. You should have acted & done something as one. Something bold & cutting.
This is not politics as usual.

You’re so smart and in-your -face tough and integorus, I wish you’d done as I suggested rather than cede the field to the enemy.
“No Kings.”Repeated over & over in a normal speaking voice.
Hell, I offered to come w/ and help. And would have been honored.

Loose the advantages that come with being to print the money the whole world wants and this thing we call society goes to Lord of Flies very fast.
When you say “it can’t happen here”, that’s what Chump thinks you’re referring to. But it can.
I am scared.

More terrifying still, will the dollar remain the world’s reserve currency if the US is no longer unique in the world? No longer a place of laws? Separation of powers? A place where some El Jefe doesn’t tell businesses, the treasury and everyone else what to do?

They’re not smart enough to look at Hungary & realize it is neither very powerful or rich. Only America’s Right Wing idiots envy it.
But if Chump & his Idiots remake America in an illiberal image, they risk everything. Will countries clamor to buy the debt of country that doesn’t keep its word?

Specifically, I’m referring to America’s economic preeminence. They don’t realize that by sweeping aside the rule of law, tossing aside long-standing allies and trade alliances, they risk the very foundations our prosperity.

No way. Chump is a human stain.

Chump will probably call for the Sgt at Arms. You keep at it. If someone attempts to use force to silence any of you, those nearest firmly, but calmly resist. Protect that person. Do this, until Chump gives up in embarrassed frustration. Key is staying calm, firm and nearly matter of fact.

Very good idea. Good thinking.

I think we all need to acknowledge, this administration, this wildly anti-democratic movement needs not merely to be resisted, it must be overturned.

Whoever did this — brilliant! Congratulations!

Also, why, even during his first term, didn’t we refer to him as President Chump or Donald Chump? It seems a natural. On posters, in commentary, in communications comical and serious, just call him Chump instead of Trump. Matter of fact, as if nothing could be more natural.

Hi, Congresswoman AOC, we need more than even your powerful words. NY has a long history of progressive ideas in action, from TR & FDR-on. We need your charisma & smarts to help mobilize NYC into a vital, vigorous resistance. Boots on the ground. Fists in the air & more. Please.

How do folks who aren't activists by trade or experience learn what they can do to resist what's going on?

We need some kind of leadership for a true resistance. Resistance that gets in the face of those doing and abetting wrong.
How do we organize that?
