Today we got a call about this amazing fish. @karlycohen.bsky.social and a local fisherman collaborated on retrieval. The king of the salmon, Trachipterus altivela, is a mesopelagic predator. They do wash up occasionally. This is the second I have seen in 30 years in the San Juans.
