I mean we don’t get trumps initial win without the bubbling racist reaction to Obama which he built his platform on and literally started his new political career on the “is he really a citizen” bullshit

And I don’t think it should be accepted I more mean why they always need to find leftists to blame instead of dealing with the actual issue at hand

If she won they would be framing her like liberals talked about Obama in ‘08 and her win would’ve been seen as evidence of post-feminism and post-racial politics. I think part of how some liberals can’t accept that most Americans voted for trump due to bigotry is how much they wanted that to be true

If I might recommend: a little podcast that features a lot of dropout folks and has cheered me up the last few days is Perfect Person. It’s a call in advice show but it doesn’t tend to get dark.

Starting to feel like half of the discourse on here is someone saying “genocide is bad” and democrats blaming them solely for trump being elected

Reminds me of this guy who called himself the “conservative mr beast” and bought a bunch of bud lights ,during the whole Dylan Mulvaney thing, to shoot them (and take part in a rebate campaign) and his audience turned on him for “supporting bud light” lmao

I expected him to be a bit of the boring straight man hero but he’s really not. I think a lot of it can be attributed to the great chemistry Shatner had with DeForrest Kelly and Leonard Nimoy

And yes that is part of the power of some futurist subgenres like afrofuturism but the mainstream adaptations of said subgenres rarely allow the radical hope to live

It has given me a greater appreciation for good sci-fi writing and made me wish we currently had more attempts at hopeful utopian sci fi. I get it’s hard to be hopeful now but I think those visions of peace are just as politically powerful as their darker counterparts if thoughtful enough

Mr beast just always feels emotionless. Like he talks with the empty friendliness you have to perform as a service worker but with none of the charisma. Like at least Tom Cruise has intense amounts of charisma that makes you forget about the emptiness lol

Actually the more direct harassment is when I called pewdiepie a Nazi (literally got so many ppl telling me to kms). Probably both cases it was a bunch of brainwashed kids

Anyways thinking of when I posted something negative about the squid games in real life thing on twitter and it was probably the most direct harassment I got but also it was always coded with “you’ll never be as good a person as he is you fat slob!!!!”

Pretty much all negative “kink at pride” talking points are perfect ammo for conservatives to say “see even the good queers think it”

Same thing with Sarah Connor in T2. It is actually presented as *bad* to be stoic and something she needs to learn from but these types just focus on how “badass” someone looks and that definition of “badass” is very based on overtly masculine traits.

Esp annoys me when they do it with Ripley bc they always go to “well she wasn’t emotional” and “she didn’t let her gender drag her down”. Well, first she wasn’t written as a woman which changes things and also if you pay attention the point of Aliens is she has to learn to let ppl in

There’s also how this dichotomy leads to weird engagement with their art that relies on an odd psychoanalysis that is not usually applied to men. Hence why a lot of women artists want to be regarded as artists first instead of part of a special category

Frank Herbert got it right: the real danger of A.I./Thinking Machines isn't from the technology itself, it's from those who ultimately make and control that technology for their gain even if it means fucking over everyone else. Butlerian Jihad now, Butlerian Jihad forever...

The awful things that will come for ai ultimately stems from human greed and yeah it would never be the evil terminator god that would create superhell. The awful shit is what’s happening now with job replacement and disinformation (the stuff that benefits the rich weirdos who buy into it)
comment in response to post
I only understood how someone could believe that shit when I thought about it in religious terms and how they think of technology as their replacement for evangelicalism while also having all the community that generally comes with a church being other online delusional tech weirdos
