Net-zero California by 2045: • 82GW of EGS • 40% reduction in system capacity • 8.6% reduction in system cost Let's just do it and be legends. pubs.rsc.org/en/Content/A...

Wake up babe, a new phase of physical existence just dropped.

Great lineup for this Atlantic Council + ClearPath geothermal event: • Gov. Jared Polis • Jeremy Harrell, ClearPath • @mbazilian.bsky.social, CO Mines • @timlatimer.bsky.social, Fervo • Brian George, Google ...and more! Check it out tomorrow in person/online: www.atlanticcouncil.org/event/geothe...

Bipartisan support for geothermal is BACK for the 119th Congress! Thanks to Reps. Maloy (R-UT) and Lee (D-NV) and Sens. Cortez Masto and Murkowski for sponsoring the STEAM Act to extend permitting parity across oil, gas & geothermal. www.cortezmasto.senate.gov/news/press-r...

The latest from @arnabdatta.bsky.social and @ifp.bsky.social is a must read on getting real about energy solutions for compute-driven load growth. ifp.org/special-comp...

Great piece by @mariagallucci.bsky.social on what has been a truly momentous year for geothermal. If 2024 was a breakout year, I'm not sure what we're going to be calling 2025 and 2026 and 2027... www.canarymedia.com/articles/geo...

Heading into the new year with some fresh new funding! • The opportunistic corporate equity: $135M • Letter of credit and term loan facility: $120M Same all-star team of partners and the same big goal: clean, reliable and abundant power everywhere. fervoenergy.com/fervo-energy...

🚨COOL JOB ALERT🚨 Join my team at Fervo! Geothermal is the coolest/hottest place to be in energy policy right now. Get in on the action. fervoenergy.com/career/regul...

Disappointed to see EPRA fail to advance in the House. After years of work crafting a bipartisan solution (15-4 in committee!) this bill would have resulted in immediate benefits for American consumers and energy security. www.energy.senate.gov/2024/12/manc...

We're down to the wire on permitting reform for this Congress and @robinsonmeyer.bsky.social does a good job here breaking it down. However, I would love if one of these pieces didn't yadda yadda the geothermal provisions. They're really good and super bipartisan! A BFD! heatmap.news/politics/per...

Odd Lots did a geothermal episode (recorded LIVE at Deploy24 last week). @weisenthal.bsky.social and @tracyalloway.bsky.social got the perfect guest: @timlatimer.bsky.social! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

WECC forecasts 20% increase in annual load by 2034, double the forecasted increase from two years ago. Buckle up and get to building.

The American Energy Society has named Geothermal as the "Most Interesting Sector" of 2024! Now I just need it be the most interesting topic at a party and I'll be all set. www.energysociety.org/uploads/1/1/...

This is a good piece and important message from @arnabdatta.bsky.social. There is critical progress to be made on energy, but not by doubling down on strategies that narrow coalitions and insist on perfection. Now's the time for finding common ground for shared goals. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/08/o...

Wilson is the man. Awesome work on EGS and how to model innovation in power systems.

Adding to this – an interesting dynamic with EGS is that the best geologic resources are already economic today, and as costs decline, new resources/markets/geographies become economic, so projects are able to deploy quickly, establish learning-curves, and ride the cost declines into new areas.

The geothermal provisions in Sec. 208 of EPRA are uncontroversial, bipartisan and important for the accelerated growth and innovation of next-generation geothermal technologies at a critical time for the industry.

So the two Chair and Ranking Member of Senate ENR next Congress are the bipartisan co-sponsors of the strongest geothermal permitting bill ever introduced? Must be Hot Rock Season in DC... thehill.com/policy/energ...

Psst -- another piece of legislation to accelerate geothermal energy development just passed the House with wide bipartisan support. Congrats to Rep. Fulcher (R-ID) for pushing the CLEAN Act (H.R. 1449) over the finish line. clerk.house.gov/Votes/2024473

I cannot imagine a nominee with more technical and commercial understanding of EGS and need to deploy geothermal for clean, firm power. www.politico.com/news/2024/11...

This sentiment (relayed here by @shanumathew.bsky.social) is 100% correct and needs to be better appreciated by everyone in the utility/data center/power development space. BTM is not a panacea for load growth.

Utah Capitol building: S-tier

Geothermal champ Rep. Russ Fulcher's CLEAN Act is headed to the House floor next week! Requires Interior to: • hold lease sales every year (current law is two years) • in the case of delay, hold replacement sales during the same year. www.congress.gov/bill/118th-c...

Recent talk about the incipient nuclear renaissance in the US, its impact on commodity prices and on the grid, is lacking in details or tangible catalysts. LOIs are treated like PPAs and PPAs are treated like built built projects. I'm all for enthusiasm, but we're losing touch with the real world.

Huge shoutout to @timlatimer.bsky.social and @jessejenkins.bsky.social for landing on the Time Climate 100! time.com/collection/t...

Ok we are overdue for a geothermal starter pack but I’ve got to find my people on here first. Let me hear from you geologists, developers, researchers, engineers, modelers, academics, policy makers, and even just the geo-curious. Drop a comment below. 👇

Thrilled to see the House continue to advance supportive energy legislation in the lame duck session. From the Majority Leader's office, I couldn't have said it better myself. www.majorityleader.gov/news/documen...

Enhanced geothermal is popular on both sides of the aisle, improves our energy security and is huge for rural development and reliability. Important to recognize where progress can be made and get aggressive. Scalable and affordable clean firm is on the table? Take the W!
