Ok yeah, yeah, I don't *need* it for real. It's just that I have 10+ years of data saved and I kind of like it. You never know when a grumpy police chief barks "where were you the night of of November 7th 2017?". Can't be caught with my pants down in that very reasonable scenario.

It's already natural for me to find a photo in immich seconds after taking it. Once I set up proper remote backup for it and test restoring it...it's good enough for prime time for me. Next on the path to become #degoogled is location history. It's very convenient at times, despite being one […]

@repeattofade this Speed remake is a bit low-stakes.

@paco I've been on both ends of that. Often (not always) it's a case of https://xyproblem.info/ "What are they *really* trying to do?"

@techconnectify.bsky.social I'm all for a positive optimism about new technologies. Maybe one day AI will be taken for granted in healthcare. ... But the number of times I read about some weird new technology jammed into everyday life (healthcare ffs) as if it's normal... Puh. I mean, sure […]

I mean, fuck, every time I open any of those abominations I am SUBMERGED by popups and "new feature! AI buttwipe in beta! You want it **NOW** or **LATER**?? Fuck you. Fuck anything "as a service". The constant upseling and the mind boggling complexity of UIs that are shifting in realtime under […]

Maybe you learned about those things by being slapped on the hand like that, but I didn't. I learned it from introductory posts or just reading random posts like this one, discussing it "in general". And guess what? You got pushed the "offending" content without looking for it so...it does work […]

I see the same behavior towards normal people sticking their neck out, into the fediverse. If you do that routinely, ESPECIALLY on content that appeared to you randomly with a boost, and yes EVEN TOWARDS INSTITUTIONS, you are not helping. You think you're helping but you're not. You're making […]

Now, I believe that public figures and institutions should know better than to take personally the background nagging of the internet. I also think that many of those observations are factually correct, and yes "somebody has to tell them". And if that is the only reason for abandoning the […]

@gabrielesvelto sorry for the nitpicking, but the last sentence made me think for a minute: "why should I not report them?" I even thought "maybe they use that as proof they're getting engagement" or something. Then I understood what you meant 😅 Add "instead" after the last comma maybe?

@techconnectify.bsky.social I'm glad he didn't get into the cardboard box of your latest video 😅

@doskel I read it expecting a wholesome twist, like "...but I love it and please don't stop". I am deeply disappointed.

@aires that is probably why I was disappointed by NMS on switch. There are basically no social features. You cannot meet anyone.

@st3fan @astro I didn't know gotosocial supported relays. I looked it up, it doesn't, but I discover you can follow relay urls as users. Suddenly I have the urge to try a self hosted instance. Thanks for thanking @astro and well... Thanks astro.
