On the 3rd anniversary of Russia’s brutal invasion, Europe is in Kyiv. We are in Kyiv today, because Ukraine is Europe. In this fight for survival, it is not only the destiny of Ukraine that is at stake. It’s Europe’s destiny.

3. Oppfordr andre til å gjøre det samme.

What sad news. 30 days less snow days in Northern Europe will make the winters a lot darker. This winter surely has been strange in Northern Norway with peaks of loads of snow followed by rain and melt 😮‍💨

Where will the annual minimum of Antarctic sea-ice extent end? At present, it is among the four lowest on record. But is still heading downwards 📉 ⚒️🧪🌊🥼❄️

Det ble en frisk start på 2025, med global varmerekord, rekordhøyt havnivå, rekordlite sjøis og en særdeles nærgående asteroide. Les Terje Wahls blogg:

Climate change will increasingly impact the ocean around Antarctica, and the life within it, as it progresses. Read the new paper by the excellent Ben Fisher and colleagues on how this will happen, what are the implications, and how we can improve our ability to predict the key changes. 🌊❄️🥼🧪

I need this 🥰

They can claim to be in power. But they can not silence science!

Last month was the *warmest* January on record globally. It was also separately the warmest January for global land areas and the 2nd warmest for global ocean areas. Data provided by NOAAGlobalTemp v6.0.0 (www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/lan...) 🧪⚒️🌊

Keep in mind, what AOC is doing is what many of us do as lawyers -- informing our clients (and the public) about the law and their rights. They're now suggesting that doing just that is "aiding and abetting law breaking."

The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race will now start in Fairbanks due to a lack of snow on a stretch of trail into Nikolai. Mushers raised alarms about the trail conditions over the weekend.

Sea ice in the Arctic and around Antarctica cool our climate, drive ocean circulation across the planet, and provide a unique habitat for polar ecosystems. Sea ice amounts have now fallen to their lowest since we started measuring them. This is not good. 🌊🥼❄️🧪 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Boycotting Google for its submissive complicity in Trump’s Nazi-style dictatorship, the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico, and other acts of cowardice? Corporate overreach is one thing—historical revisionism and authoritarian alignment are another. Here’s FckG, a guide to alternatives.

The extent of sea ice globally is now at an absolute record low level for the entire satellite-era. [Graphics: zacklabe.com/global-sea-i.... Note: the poles are affected by very different Earth system processes/seasonality. I am using 5-day running mean data.]

January 2025 was the 18th month in a 19-month period in which the global-average temperature was more than 1.5°C above pre-industrial level. 🧵

We got a message from the university to remove any use of the "DEI", "diversity", "equity", or "inclusion" from all public-facing documents. They said that even "biodiversity" is being flagged by the federal government. We live in the dumbest timeline.

47,000+ Palestinians killed. 111,000 injured. Trump’s response? Forcibly expel Palestinians to make Gaza “a real estate development for the future. A beautiful piece of land.”  No. Gaza must be rebuilt for the Palestinian people, not billionaire tourists.

It is also worth noting that the northward drift northeast of Greenland is leading to less ice and even areas of open water. 🌊🧪🥼❄️⚒️

Studying the daily drift of sea ice in the Arctic during the period when ice extent ceased to grow is fascinating. The retreating ice edge around Svalbard is influenced not only by warmer temperatures but also by a strong northward drift of ice.

This is truly astonishing, especially considering that the last few years represent the so-called new #Arctic. 🌊⚒️🧪🥼❄️

Could the pause in the freeze-up of sea ice be related to the persistent warm anomaly in the Arctic? 🤡 A great visualization tool for Air and Sea Surface Temperatures 👉check out pulse.climate.copernicus.eu

This has been a weird and unstable winter in the north. Whether precipitation falls as snow or rain is such a delicate balance ....

Not good... 🥵

We've reached 1.5°C global warming. With current policies, we're heading for a catastrophic 2.7°C warming. A new review paper in Science shows: this would change the Arctic 'beyond recognition', with knock-on effects (like rising seas) around the world. 🌊 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

The extent of sea ice has clearly dropped in both the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. Today, Antarctic ice extent is the fifth-lowest on record for this time of year and continues to decline 📉 ⚒️🧪🌊❄️🥼

The Arctic sea-ice extent is 'falling behind" the normal seasonal increase toward the annual maximum. It appears weird...🧐 ⚒️🧪🥼❄️🌊

Record low global sea ice area continues to fall. 🧪 #GreenSky
