X is for Xylopagurus. This hermit crab, found at depths of 170-475m, is WEIRD! Instead of a shell, they tunnel a hole into fallen bits of wood (how did it get down there?). Then they plug the end with their own butt (6th abdominal segment that is heavily calcified). #CrabAZ 🦀🧪🦑
