How to deal with fascists 101.

I'm betting there's an impeachable offense embedded in this "revenue sharing agreement."

Great job by Ruben (@rubenbolling.bsky.social).

This is a great idea. Do you know anyone in Congress you can talk to?

if I understand American politics correctly, progressivism is something that requires 60 senate votes to work, while national conservatism doesn’t require any votes at all

I kept this screenshot assuming someday we might be asked to forget.

Gotta love the British press.

Hell is empty, And all the devils are here.

The "swearing in" is over. The "swearing at" will never end.

All of Trump’s expansionist conquest talk is to please Vladimir Putin, to hobble NATO, and to pillage natural resources. Think of that every time you hear him say the names: Greenland, Canada, and Panama.

Donald Trump will be president for another term. But he will forever be a convicted felon and an adjudicated sex abuser.

BREAKING: Justice Juan Merchan has DENIED Donald Trump’s motion to dismiss his hush-money indictment and vacate the guilty verdict and ordered him to appear for sentencing next Friday at 9:30 a.m. virtually or in person.

The NY Attorney General has REJECTED Trump's bid to dismiss his $500M civil fraud judgment post-election. The AG stated that Trump's presidency doesn't shield him from civil litigation over non-official conduct, per the Constitution and multiple court precedents.

I don't know who needs to know this, but Pro Publica has an online thing that will format a letter to your US health insurance company to demand the records behind a claim denial. (which the insurance is then legally required to provide in most cases) projects.propublica.org/claimfile/

people say “you need to start living in the real world” but they forget that the real world includes lupines and lightning bugs and ginger beer and starlight and sea coasts and Renoir paintings and Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos and fog banks and foxes playing in snow.

Bravo for @harrylitman.bsky.social’s selfless decision to resign the LA Times in protest. “The existential stakes for our democracy that Trump’s second term poses” make Soon-Shiong’s “currying favor with the President-elect . . . repugnant and dangerous.” harrylitman.substack.com/p/why-i-just...

I've opted to restart from the beginning reading "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. What strikes me about 1775 is how it's cyberpunk without the cyber. It's a violent, unequal world where trust is in short supply and revolution is incipient.

It's the social norms of doing what is right, decent, and compassionate shared across the members of the community that holds evil in check. Loyalty to and self-sacrifice in the name of these norms is why good prevails.

Utter the single word “Wetherspoon,” or even the colloquial “Spoons” to a Brit, and they’ll know what you mean. Some will grimace. Some will groan. Others will excitedly rub their hands together like you’d just cooked their favorite meal.
