The best experiences I have had using AI (LLMs, specifically) are as a Q&A chat-bot to learn about different ideas, fields of study, and philosophies. I'm amazed at how well they handle analogies and hand-wavey phrases when I don't know the lexicon of the topic.

Every time you hear the word “privatize”, replace it in your mind with “let some billionaires get even richer by taking this over.”

Tonight, I am meditating on the faith in my inner buddha-nature. That - regardless of conditions such as stress, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, discomfort, or loss - my deepest inner self is unchanging and will always be okay.

Teaching your kids to say "thank you" by demonstrating real appreciation works ridiculously well. It's one thing Shell and I nailed with River, who is so polite and grateful.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but there's no legal basis for those signs on trucks that say, "not responsible for broken windshields." It's the truck driver's responsibility to ensure their load is properly secured.

If any of our former NATO or Five Eyes allies have intelligence data and assessments, which surely they must, about the background of the leader of their new strategic adversary, the United States, now is as good a time as any to release them, subject to protection of methods and sources, of course.

Did you know that Red Pandas use their tails as pillows 🥹

We're on contract for our dream home!

Mermaids would be mammals, right?

Well, with RFK Jr confirmed, now we really need this. "Give me Healthcare, or give me death!" Wait, that's too accurate.

Also, a buckwheat and agave loaf!

Today I made biscotti. On the left, orange and dark chocolate. On the right, blackberry and white chocolate.

I don't understand this obsession that so many people have that labor is a fact of life. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty to "do" to keep society together. But one thing I've learned from building software is that using technology to do the boring stuff frees up more time for the fun stuff.

We need a pro-science ad campaign that parodies those ridiculous NRA slogans. "From my cold, dead hands" Holding my fluoride toothpaste. "Come and take it" Over a threatening-looking polio vaccine.

You won't find it in any sutra, but The Great British Bake Off is definitely one of the finer dharmas of samsara.

"Don't use [prescription drug] if you're allergic to [prescription drug]" is my favorite advice from tv drug ads.

The work week is over, and I am legitimately burned out.

I gotta find time to meditate tonight. It's been a couple of days. I can usually get a good 20 min in before bed and then ride the post-meditation equanimity into sleep, but it's hard when you're co-sleeping with your 2 y.o. at an AirBnb.

Huge thanks to Lagunitas Brewing for their IPNA and especially their Refreshers. I'm not drinking in 2025. Haven't had a drink since NYE when I had scotch after learning Shell was pregnant. These NA options from breweries I love and still want to support make not drinking just as delicious.

Shell and I drove to King Soopers today (Colorado Kroger) and saw that the employees had gone on strike. We gave them a thumbs up and went to Safeway instead. Quick note to future picketers: Fewer words! It took way too long to figure out what business the strike was about. Don't bury the lead.

We're in the process of selling our house and hunting for a new one. I'm not entirely sure why we're not taking this chance to flee to a country that's not so bent on self immolation...

Yesterday was rough. Didn't get much sleep the night before, worked 8+ hours, and immediately after, did 3.5 hours of hard labor moving furniture in prep for painters. Then I went to bed angry and exhausted. Feeling hopeful for today. And I'm definitely taking a nap.

Q about shower squeegees... Am I supposed to use this every time I shower, or do we just hang these in showers because they're fun?

I guess the silver lining is all of the new source material for sociology case studies on "just following orders" under authoritarian regimes...?
